I'll tell you -- they are likely having technology problems. The way live shots are done now at many of the stations are through mobile boxes (backpacks) that rely on wireless towers. When too many people are on their phones, using data, it makes it rough to get live shots and pictures.txag614 said:
In a 45 minute broadcast we've had about 30 seconds showing the players. The only reason people are tuned in. Cool.

The reason you are likely seeing the anchors so much is because those are probably hard-wired to live trucks using the more stable microwave and satellite signals. From watching the 13 broadcast, there is probably a sat truck for the main anchors and Clemons, a live truck with the shot at city hall (podium) and a live truck with the site a few floors above the parade. The rest are likely operating on backpacks -- which are less stable.
Now, imagine each station with this type of setup. There's only so much bandwidth to go around.
Just a little insight...
Chicago didn't have many issues last year. Don't be salty.agproducer said:I'll tell you -- they are liking having technology problems. Not getting salty, just wanted to add my insight. Also, those backpacks can operate on a 3 to 8 second delay. I had a great situation with Bob Allen years ago at the rodeo.txag614 said:Chicago didn't have many issues last year. Man, what's with all the hate? We'll get enough of the players when they reach city hall. I enjoy seeing all the people. This is a really cool thing, to me.
Understandable. Would probably be 10X better if the reporters wouldn't talk every second and just let us listen to the party.agproducer said:Not getting salty, just wanted to add my insight.
