While I still like the strategy of double switches and all that late in games the auto out in the exact situation Houston had are way more prevalent

I think the AL should just get to always use a DH and the NL should have to use the pitcher. No matter where the game is played.

Ask both teams before the game if they'd rather have a DH or their pitcher hit and make them roll with their answer.
