Lucroy is a classic example a player doing great in a low pressure / low expectation environment (i.e. Milwaukee). Easier to produce under those circumstances. But when the pressure and expectations ramp up (i.e. playoff chase)...the struggles begin

He had one of the best stretches of his career when he got traded into the AL West playoff race last season.

I dont know. He tore the cover off the ball for them down the stretch last year. 1.7 WAR in only 47 games.

Fangraphs has talked a lot about his sudden decline in pitch framing ability. Feels like there is something physical going on.

Yeah. Lucroy thrived when getting thrown into the playoff race with a world of expectation surrounding him.

There hasn't been an expectation for him to perform well for a few months and he's not loosened up at all.

The whole Rangers organization has been lethargic and the roster seems to have received about zero help from the coaching staff this season to fix anything.

Teoscar hernandez would be mildly surprising as the prospect (Aoki is just salary/roster spot finagling and irrelevent to the deal, IMO).

Starting to feel like not the best value, but only because I saw Hernandez being in the potential package for Gray. Hernandez didn't factor into any short or long term plans here.

I think the Astros saw enough from Teoscar to realize that he wasn't ever going to figure into the outfield here. In my opinion, he's a fourth outfielder at best. We've got a lot of fringe prospects at the AAA level so I'm not surprised we're trying to clear that a bit - otherwise you risk losing some value in Rule V.

You can pick up a 4th outfielder easy on the market if there is ever a hole there.

And with all the athleticism today, an athletic 4th outfielder is never far away in the minors or the draft.

Teoscar is, IMO, the most overrated of all Astros prospects, so I'm OK with this deal, but being overrated still meant that he might have value to somebody else that we're wasting here, which is why I figured he wouldn't be included in a deal for Liriano.

It's also unlikely they actually want Aoki, they are probably taking him off our hands as a positive to our side of the deal.

I like Teoscar. I think he'll make it to the bigs and stick. However, he is almost 25 and doing good (not quite great) in triple A. He got 100 ABs in the show and wasn't ready yet. We don't have opportunities (Springer, Reddick, Fisher, with Tucker in the pipeline) and his value wasn't going up.

Teoscar was so pretty far down the list on OFers that would contribute to this team.

I'm fine with dealing him.

Question is now that we've unofficially given Fisher the reigns to LF will Tucker be included in a deal?
