It actually makes more sense than first thought. Fisher will be up for the rest of the season now, Aoki was only a one year contract (if I recall correctly), and now you avoid giving up any prospects that you have hopes for

I'm OK with Aoki being dealt. He was a waiver claim and wasn't bringing too much to the team.

Aoki was a waiver claim from Seattle with another year of control. Depending on who the minor leaguer is, what a great deal. I've been calling for more Fisher and less Aoki for a while now.

I like this move a lot actually. Aoki was expendable, and we get a veteran lefty who can start or relieve. Aoki was brought in to be a contact hitting outfielder, but Springer and Reddick are both hitting over .300 anyway.

Did we overpay? We gave up a 35 year old OF with a sub 700 OPS who was blocking a solid prospect for PT. This frees up a spot on the 40.

PTBNL for Lucroy and a 25 year old RHP who's never been above AA.

Right move at the time but nobody saw Lucroy falling off a cliff like that.
