I saw Reid Ryan at the Farm League Park tonight. My son's tournament game had just ended and we saw him out recording his son pitching with his phone. It was really cool seeing his son pitch. He has not let CP keep him from doing what he loves.

I told him thank for the work he does with the team and he gave me a score update (3-0 Stros at the time).

Annoying bandwagon fan here. They were my #2 team for years. I picked them because they were in at AL, my old man is a Yankee fan, & because idiot was a great book. Damon broke my heart when he went to NY.

Gray is 27 with 2 years of arbitration. He's doing better than last year but he's not exactly tearing it up. His ERA is high but he looks to be unlucky. FIP & xFIP are in the low 3s. His Ks are up. Price needs to be right.

So it sounds like Morton throws a rehab outing on Thursday.

McCullers threw yesterday and may only be another turn through the rotation from returning

Keuchel is progressing and throwing soon, maybe another turn or two through the rotation from returning.

Seems like it would be hard to not part with Paulino, Martes, or Fisher. I really like Derek Fisher, too. Would love to slot him into the lineup a little more instead of Aoki. He's another run producer at the bottom of the order.

Not sure Gray is good enough at this point to justify not seeing what you have in Martes/Paulino for an extended look. Trading for a bonafide ace? Sure, I'm all for that, but Gray might only be a 3/4/5 SP on the staff for the next few years.

That is what makes me nervous. As are going to try and value him based on previous value. Nothing we have seen yet that says he will get back to 2015 level. Need to see another months worth of starts from him.

One thing I will say for Gray, the A's defense is absolutely awful. His BABIP could immediately trend down with a better defense behind him.

Right... seems like Gray could be had for less than some of the other big names out there and could potentiall be that #3 pitcher we've all talked about getting instead of a bonafide ace.
