The walk rate for Martes is definitely an outlier as compared to his prior years so there is hope that he can find it.

Martes has been working on a pitch in the minors(changeup I believe). I wouldn't be too worried about the 15th best prospect in baseball

I think it has everything to do with how the entire bullpen is getting gassed, which in part is due to Morton not being able to start games. Not sure we can read anything into it regarding morton's schedule for return.

Had a feeling this wasn't about an illness. I played with a pinched nerve in my neck a whole season in college. It really bothered me when I threw, not really any pain when I hit. It lasted almost 3 months. I wish we would have had him skip 3-4 starts just to be sure. Have a feeling this is going to be a problem the whole season. We need to go get another starter.

I've had the pinched nerve issue in my back. Not fun.

I'm sure ESPN is happy we put Keuchel on the DL. Ruined their Sunday Night Baseball match up on the 18th for a potential Keuchel vs Price matchup. Now it will probably be Paulino vs Price... hahaha

thats not necessarily true..

he is on the 10 day, retroactive to the 3rd.

He will make that Sunday night start if his stint isnt extended.

Keuchels spot was never going to be Sunday. He was set up for the Monday game

I'm not worried about any of our pitcher "injuries" until September.

It's a long season. We don't want Dallas hitting the 200 inning mark with a month left to go before the playoffs. I'm certain we'll find an injury "excuse" for McCullers sometime in June/July as well. Musgrove and Morton weren't going to be able to make it a full season regardless. Morton coming off an severe injury last year. Musgrove has never even come close to throwing 200 innings.

I could be wrong. Maybe we are effed. But I'm not going to worry about it until September.

While I'm sure that will happen, he just came off of a ten day DL stint. I doubt they're sending him for another missed start to rest after scratching him. Could be playing it safe, but that no timetable bit after seeing the doctors sounds a bit concerning.

I was honestly thinking we were going to do this with Keuchel (and McCullers) a couple of times this year. I'll be surprised if this is the last time. IMO, his "illness" yesterday gave us an excuse to put him on the DL and open a roster spot. We retain the flexibility to throw him again in a couple days if he's up to it. But sitting him for a few starts isn't the worst thing in the world either. Hot start gives us the luxury of pacing Keuchel/McCullers and keeping them fresh for the stretch run.

Again, I could be completely off base.

Until you **** around and have a losing streak tossing out minor league bullpen spares and the like. Or lose home field.

Oops, you are correct. I was looking at this Sunday. I now realize we play Boston TWO Sunday's from now.
