Whats the word on Morton and McHugh?
McHugh is nowhere close. I thought I heard Morton will make his start this weekend but I haven't heard or seen anything to confirm that.

The price on Quintana has to have come down since his season has been putrid, doesn't it? I'd give up everyone but Tucker because I don't think the team is going to be able to hold on to Springer when it starts looking to lock up Correa/Altuve in the future.

I was just saying there's no reason to give up anything for Quintana. Also pointing out that the line isn't great, so I don't see why the Astros would have been that impressed.
He has been largely ineffective this year and in a marginally-healthy Astros rotation, wouldn't crack the top 3. So he makes no real difference for us in the playoffs.

I am not all that optimistic about Martes at this point because of his control issues, but he has the stuff so you never know when it will click.
can't be any worse than guaduan going 2.2 innings and 3 ER to start a game.....

Martes has 28 walks in 32 innings at AAA this year. If he does not significantly improve on those numbers in the majors, he basically has very little chance of success.
Yeah, the walks are concerning, but bullpen is the right call for him.
Right now it seems like Luhnow and Hinch are just throwing any bodies they have at the pitching situation to see what they have and collect all the info they can before trading for someone in the next two months.

Doubt its that. I'd venture to say they didn't want to do this at all. It's more out of need.
This season the Royals have pretty regulally made an ace out of average pitchers.txag614 said:

I'd venture to guess McCullers will go 9-innings with < 100-pitches.
Not fired up about Martes walk rate but I remember LMJ talking about his AA stats not being so great the year before he burst on the scene. He said they were "planned" or something. They may have Martes throwing a change up every other pitch to get it polished more.
I'm concerned about any adverse effects coming out of the pen may have on him.
Maybe the tandem start thing helps but that doesn't give me as comfortable as it would be if he came up to be a starter.
