Or (a) the A's required a premium to move Gray in the division, and (b) had a deal for Britton that got nixed by Angelos.

The point is this is all speculation. We have no way of knowing what prospects of ours that other teams would even ask for or consider, and whether we could have gotten any deal done without Tucker or whomever so tough to say Luhnow does not think it is our year or he failed.

With the amount of moves he was in I'm not buying the he didn't try or wasn't playing for this year theory.

Sucks nothing happened and we didn't get better but it's over and let's move on. Maybe we make a run at Verlander. Back to baseball.

My point stands. Do you think anyone overpaid? If not, do you think that every other team was asking more from the Astros than any other team? Not likely.

There were several players being dangled on the trade block that no one successfully convinced the selling team to deal on. I think Luhnow was going for Britton and/or Hand decently hard, but no one ending up getting either.

Basically the speculation that Martes, Fisher, Tucker and Whitley were untouchable looks like it was correct. A deal would have gotten done for Britton at least if one of them was available.

Maybe they thought they had the Britton deal nailed and that was the guy they really wanted, so they pulled out of the bidding for Wilson? By the time that deal was nixed Wilson was gone.

We don't know if the speculation was correct or not. We also don't know what it would have taken to land Britton. If we were close to landing someone, as Luhnow alluded to, then maybe we were going to include one, but one wasn't enough. Or maybe the pieces going over with that one was too much. We'll never know.

To be honest, I'll take healthy Morton over anything but completely healthy lance, and over mchugh period.
