Because you need him to win this thing. Last night showed you can't win the WS with two good starters. Gotta give it a try and hope he is back to form. I was hoping we should have used him last night and Peacock tonight.

Um last night didn't show anything like that. If you have 2 phenomenal starters you can definitely win the whole thing. NY would have to take, at minimum, 1 win away from 4 combined keuchel/verlander starts while winning the other 3 games in the series.

Still can't believe Frazier hit an opposite field homerun on an awkward, nearly one-handed, swing on a ball low and outside that he wasn't even looking at.

Collin McHugh was very good out of the pen last night. 4 hitless innings and he saved the bullpen. Really wish he could have started.

I don't know what he did to piss Hinch off, because he definitely deserves to start. He was amazing and dependable after coming back from injury this season, minus his first couple of starts. Plus he's usually able to go fairly deep into games.

Game 3 is done, over, in the books. New day today, and it's a new day to start raking!!!

They will have to beat JV or DK to win this series. We know it, and more importantly the Yankees know it. The pressure is still on them to win all 3 of these games at their house. Their fat ass pitcher got his win, aided by two barely over the fence HRs. Let him (and them) have their day. We'll have the final laugh when all is said and done.

So who should we start? Peacock was trash in his start against Boston and Lance looked sharp out of the pen. If there is one guy available who has the ability to come out and throw 5-6 dominant innings, its Lance.

Lance starting tomorrow...
Lance for 3-4, Peacock for 3-4, Musgrove, Devo, and Giles to close it out.

We own Gray on top of that. I like our chances tomorrow.

If they're starting Lance don't you think they are saving Peacock for game 5 or 6? While I'd certainly like to end this thing in 5, who do you throw if it goes 7 and you used keuchel and Verlander in games 5&6? Trot out Morton on short rest?

This is the question I've pondered, too. I'm assuming Keuchel will go in game 5. Then go JV in Game 6. If we get to game 7, it's Mr. Fullstaff.

Think there is any consideration to saving DK and JV for games 6 & 7 at home? Who would start game 5?

You absolutely throw DK and JV in game 5 and 6. It's 5 full days rest for both.

If it goes to GM7, Morton and McHugh would probably be you main options as they both threw very few pitches in GM3

Would it have been absurd to throw Keuchel today and Lance tomorrow so as to have Keuchel available in Gm 7 on short rest if needed?

Honestly I don't see it going to 7 anyways.

McCullers has the stuff to get it done. Hopefully the extra rest lately does him more good than bad.

Bottom line is the offense needs to break out of it's coma tonight or it doesn't matter.

Wouldn't DK be going on short rest if he pitched today?

Yeah he last pitched on Friday.

Was just a thought that maybe short rest Dallas in Gm 4 and Gm 7 is better than full rest Dallas for just Gm 5.

Lance hasn't thrown six innings since before the all-star break, and he's only thrown five once (and he got mashed.)

If anyone has the ability to throw 5-6 good innings, it's Peacock.

I honestly can't believe McCullers is going today unless the thinking is that Peacock is just better out of the pen for some reason.

I think that last thought may be the reason. Hunch may be more comfy giving McCullers a starter's prep and start, confident that Peacock can pick him up if he doesn't have the stuff today.

I'm more concerned about our ability to mash. We gotta string some hits together.

I think this is absolutely the case.

Lance has already come out and said that he really didn't feel comfortable coming out of the pen and it's something that he's had a tough time adjusting to.

With all this said I 100% want McCann back there tonight. I trust him to keep Lance cooled off and work him through the game.

And if this does indeed go to 7 how is the Yankee rotation setting up? Assume they'd CC on short rest?

It would be a ballsy move for Hinch to go with DK on short rest tonight. However, if he did and we lost, he'd still have DK to go (on 3 days rest) if we go to a game 7. Pitch him game 5 and he is essentially done for the series.

I'm not that worried about our hitting after last night, we had quite a bit of bad luck hit it right at people quite a bit, and that was against Sabathia. I think we mash Gray today.

Isn't there some solid data that shows a dropoff if a guy pitches on short rest 2 games in a row?

CC would be on full rest (4 days) if this goes to a game 7.....

Only thing about that is that Lance was really good out of the pen last time for three innings. I guess the argument against it is that Peacock wasn't very good anyway so if the two of them don't mind switching and it makes Lance more comfortable then I guess there's no harm in it.

I just don't love the idea of running out a starter that hasn't thrown more than three good innings in several months.

game 7 would be a normal 5 days rest for CC

Good morning Houston. It's a new day.
The day game is an advantage for us IMO. LMJ will return to All-Star form. Our lineup of savages will begin to mash the ball once more. The cholos will be drinking Bud Light til the morning light, knowing we are one win away from the World Series of baseball.

This comes up every few pages, but the only absolute for me in this series is that you don't mess with Keuchel or Verlander's rotation.

To beat us, they're going to have to beat DK or JV on full rest, so don't do anything to change that.

It's that simple for me.

You've got three other games to mix and match the rest of the bullpen, but you don't mess with those two.

You and me both

My only hope is that Lance is pitching with a chip on his shoulder and feels he has something to prove (which he does) and he's locked in and focused.

Maybe he comes out and surprises. I think if you can get 5 innings of 3 run ball from Lance we should be ecstatic.

We've hit Gray well in the past so hopefully the offense can get him a lead and he can have a bit of wiggle room.

Plus, these dudes absolutely mash in day games.

I think McCann should be catching moving forward. Slot Gattis in at DH here and there. I'm thinking that stoopid fastball to Judge doesn't happen last night if McCann is behind the plate.

It appeared to me that Harris shook off Gattis and wanted to throw the fastball. Mistake....
