Well, it looks like Otani is going to come to the MLB to play next season. We need to be all in on getting him. I would post the tweet I saw saying he'll be coming to the MLB but I'm on my phone and don't think there's a way to post it so it's not just a link to twitter.
Just saw the same info on the MLB channel. "Per multiple reports" he will be posted and play in the MLB next season.

Trivia in case anyone is curious: The name of Otani's team is not "Ham Fighters". The name is Fighters and they are owned by Nippon Ham, a large food corporation.
About a month too late on Napoli unfortunately.
I wonder if this is the end for Napoli's career or if we'll see him take a cheap deal somewhere next year for one last attempted run.

I've made no bones about being a big Napoli fan, but at this point I hope he hangs it up. He's just not hitting like he used to. The long ball is still there but unfortunately that's about it.

Nap is absolutely one of my favorite players.
The first time I met him I just couldn't help myself and told him how much I hated his guts as an Angel. He laughed and said I can totally understand that. I actually see him out and about occasionally he always gives me the bro hug. His clubhouse presence can't be underestimated.

The rate the Rangers are going, we'll be rolling out an entire left handed hitting lineup soon. We are down to Elvis, Chirinos, and DD among that that actually play.
I've always liked Napoli during this stints with the Rangers (and even the Red Sox), but he needs to seriously consider hanging them up. He has really regressed. HR #'s are still there, but that is about all he bring to the table nowadays. He doesn't need to come back for another year and then get cut part way through the season.
I think that is why the Rangers will be very active this offseason.KT 90 said:

Yep, that will be a necessity. Been saying for a while that they need to eat part of Choo's contract and send him somewhere. If Ichiro reitres, Choo might fit in at Tampa, but only if we pay a chunk of his salary. That contract is killing us given that he is mostly reduced to a DH role these days.

Gallo's defense is starting to rear its ugly head lately. Perez should've been out of the inning if he goes to 2nd first.
The worst thing JD can do is swap and extension. 3 Years left on Choo at $20M, $21M & $21M. I'd hate to do a Fielder\Kinsler type deal. Definitely an AL destination. I don't think eating $5M/yr would be terrible, but once you get past that, I have to wonder. Twins about to bust it open on the Padres in the 7th. They're gonna make it real tuff to catch up.
I'm at the point where I'm fully expecting us not to make the playoffs. It sucks, but it is what it is. I think the way we've performed in this mariners series is a pretty good indication of why we're not a playoff team.
