Especially considering Hamels got 9 runs of support and we lost

Ton of hard hit balls, but just not able to score runs.

Seems like most our left-handed bats are struggling lately.

I understood your top 5 until you got to Seaver. If Seaver is in your lifetime, than Nolan Ryan is in your lifetime, and should make the list before Clemens and Martinez. Pedro was awesome/great for a 8/9 year span, just not long enough IMO. And how do people argue Clemens over Ryan, with their similarities? Sure Clemens has the CY Youngs, but all of his other accolades are dwarfed by Ryan, and he's a known cheat.

Sure, the Rangers would have to eat some of the contract, but if the Rangers are truly sellers in a month, do you move Elvis?

Highly doubt it

I was including Ryan in my lifetime. I think that Tom Seaver was a better pitcher. I would argue that Steve Carlton was slightly better too. Granted, I didn't see any of them in their prime. Carlton and Seaver won multiple Cy Young Awards, went to more all-star games, had better records, and better career WAR. Seaver had a significantly better career ERA.

Clemens was a user. I would argue that Nolan Ryan was probably a user. You don't see 45 year olds throwing 100 mph since mlb cleaned up steroid use. Everyone was doing it for the better part of Clemens career. I would argue that is what makes his and the other 90's guys numbers so impressive. They were tossing hall of fame numbers in an inflated offensive era.
