I'm not a big fan of "you started it" games, but it was a response to Bannister going on the radio and popping off about the two team's names. Certainly not the first time an athlete or organization yapped on Twitter.

Being from Arlington, I though it was a witty comeback by McCullers if not annoyingly hitting a little close to home (literally.)

I would think either ABD or Gee is the casualty for Ross.

For Napoli, I think Kozma (.150, 1 HR, 1 SB) goes. Kozma is 29. Out of options

For Gomez: Hoying (.210, 1 HR, 2 SB) goes. Hoying is 28 and has 2 options.

This is Profar's last option year, IIRC, so it is nut-cutting time with him. Demoting him, IMO, would do more harm psychologically and for trade value, than him going to AAA to get ABs would help.

Back to Rule V type consideration, Profar is reaching the end of our ability to keep him. Also, he is Arb3 in 2018, which means he is a FA after 2018, I believe.

Of the two I would send Gee down. ABD is a great story, and he's been arguably better than Gee this season.

So... when you drop Barnette and move ABD AND Gee to the Bullpen... which one becomes the long-reliever and which one do you convert to a RP?

Because both are and have been SPs.

Darvish, Ross and Cashner are all FAs after 2017, so once you convert ABD and Gee to the BP, will you stretch them back out to be SPs for 2018?

There has been lots of talk of how the Rangers hurt Feliz, Scheppers, et al, by converting them between a RP and SP. Just curious where everyone stands.

I can't tell with the winky face what the tone is here. Gee and Bibens-Dirkx are 31 and 32 years old, respectively, and both been pros for over a decade. They're developed veterans and you use them however they best fill your roster needs.

They both came here on minor league deals---Bibens-Dirkx was playing in an independent league; they just want to be on a MLB mound, make some money, and, one way or another, show they can be useful.

Napoli has a worse average, less RBI, and less HRs than Gallo, not to mention that Gallo is by far the more athletic of the two as a defender, and hit a HR his last game out. Better start Napoli though...

I would think that if we are seriously consider either Gee or ABD for the rotation in 2018, we are in serious trouble. They are both good for spot starts and long relief if necessary. Lately, Barnette and Jeffers haven't been able to bridge the gap from 6th/7th to our "power" arms at the back of the bullpen, so I am all for letting ABD get a crack at getting those 4-6 outs that we need.

Could not agree more. Gallo's floor and ceiling are both much much higher than what Napoli has given us this year.

Rua going down on Father's Day weekend makes me sad.. Just had his first kid. He's just not that great of a player.

Yeah. Rua's hung around a bit and got some at bats but he's just lacking in the talent required to become a more permanent piece of the roster of a competitive team.

I've always felt like Rua doesn't get enough playing time. Or maybe that's not the right way to phrase it. I guess it's that he doesn't seem to get as much consistent playing time... He's not a great player, but I've just felt like somehow they play him when he's cold. Or he'll come in and have a few good ABs and he's suddenly on the bench for about the next 5 days or so.

I think if Rua played every day he could be a .250 /15 HR guy

Yep. Just kind of overall a decent player. Not spectacular but not awful. Honestly haven't been too high on Alvarez this season, but I suppose the move makes sense especially with losing Barnette to the DL. I would have rather sent Hoying down I guess.
