Apparently Dyson didn't work any mechanics or changes during his "10DL" stint. The Rangers had no more answers. It sounded like the Rangers were frustrated he didn't do anything. I'm guessing they were looking to put him back on the DL, but knew it wouldn't go over very well with him. Grant said about all they are hoping to get was Salary Relief, so that if they do climb back in, they can have some room.

Been pretty typical this year in my opinion. I haven't had bias concern at all but they've been inconsistent and downright stupid on a lot of these calls.

Well it's like mhayden has been saying for awhile now, the Rangers (and several teams) could be "in reach" of the second wild card through July...so what do you do?

The Rangers (Daniels/Bannister) have some serious issues to figure out before July 1 and definitely before July 31. At what point can we start chalking this team to being no good? Sure Beltre was out for almost 2 months, and Hamels has been gone, plus several players have "started off slow". But we're 2 months into the season, and unless this team goes something like 17-8 the rest of June, the Rangers have to be sellers. June includes two series with the Astros, and series with Nationals, Yankees, Indians, and Bluejays (our daddy).

I just don't see it happening, even if guys start "heating up".

With the bullpen the way it is, i do not think we would go very far in the playoffs. The second wildcard spot is not more important than getting pieces to help retool what's ailing this team, in my opinion.

We'll just have to see what the standings look like.

Last year, the first and second wild card in both leagues had the same record. 2015 the second wild card was one game behind in both leagues. In fact, never has the 2nd AL wildcard been more than a game behind the first wildcard. It happened in 2012 and 2013, only, in the NL. Against intuition, it's not really changed much what is required to make the playoffs.

No doubt it probably makes a few clubs a little more hopeful, but an 8-game-out team in 2011 is still just about an 8-game-out team in 2017.

Point is I would hope the club isn't too caught up chasing the second wild card because the empirical evidence suggests if you're not playing for the first wildcard, you're not playing for the second wildcard. (Absent something wonky.)
