Same here. Although it's a short list, it sure seems like Banny finds ways not to maximize their benefit from it. an example of that is when he'll have Claudio face 1-2 hitters and then taks him out for a **** reliever due to lefty/righty factor even though the %'s dont justify it.

Exactly. If you absolutely HAVE to pull Claudio and you're gonna bring in a RHP in a situation like that, bring in effing Kela. Barnette is not trustworthy in that kind of a situation, and I think he's better suited to start an inning fresh for whatever reason. Either way, it's really tough. The way our bullpen is right now, we need a starter to go 7 string innings. Any other situation and it feels like you're hanging on for dear life watching them try to limp towards putting in the halfway decent guys.

Bannister sucks at in game managing. I'm not a fan of his. The bullpen is atrocious, we've lost so many games because of those rejects.

That's what I can't stand about Banny, and we'll, most managers. The ONLY reason Kela didn't come in in the 7th with two runners on base is because we'll, ****, it was the 7th and Kela is our 8th inning guy!

Managers overthink (or maybe don't think?) all the f***ing time. Hey Jon, pay me or anyone that played some little league ball, and we would have just as many wins as Ole Banny this year.

And Tampa's rolling out Andriese (4-0 2.67 over last 5 starts) and Archer. Ugh.

Welp. It's past Memorial Day, and that's usually when folks say you have enough of a sample size to see what your team really is. Some thoughts:

We have a bunch of guys who are either before their prime or past their prime.

We have a pitching staff that doesn't miss bats, and also doesn't command the strike zone. Deadly combo. If you pitch to contact, you had better be able to throw strikes and get ahead of hitters. When any of our relievers pitch, you might as well start the count at 2-1, because that's what it's gonna be.

We have batters who don't walk, and strike out alot.

I still don't think we are quite out of contention or need to be full on selling at this point... Although we are digging ourselves quite the hole. I do think we desperately need bullpen help. I would much rather see us use Matt Bush and Keone Kela earlier in the game and protect the lead in 7th and 8th and then try to figure something out for the final 3 outs rather than blow it open earlier.

Hopefully Beltre's presence in the Lineup helps and having Gallo still in there should be nice. Need ALL pitchers to through more strikes.

The season is far from over. It'll take a pretty impressive choke job or a couple of significant injuries for the Astros to lose the division but we have a solid shot at the WC and we should play for it. Bullpen arms are the cheapest, easiest get at the trade deadline and a couple quality middle relievers would make a world of difference to this team.

I've lost count of how many games our pen has blown this year but we're singing a totally different tune if they had just been halfway decent to this point.

The offense has dug out of its funk. They're going to score runs this year. We still have 4 months of the season to play so it's not over, but we aren't catching Houston.

We've gotta get LeClerc back and eventually Diekman, and hope for more consistency from the bullpen. Tyson Ross has to be serviceable. A lot of things have to go right.

Geez. I'd forgotten that Tampa had played 16 innings on Sunday. Our offense did what they should've done to that pitching staff and our pitchers still couldn't bring a win home.

Tyson Ross pitched last night for RR - 3.1 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 5 BB. While his 1st outing was pretty good, I can't imagine 5 BBs provides any assurance on being ready. I get working on pitches and hitting spots, but 5 BB would seem he is not ready, even if healthy.

Leclerc has 18 BBs in 26.2 IP at the MLB level.

The offense didn't seem to be in a funk in the first week or two of the season but then they got into a funk. Certainly possible you see another bad week(s) from them.

Looking at 61-49 the west of the way to get to 86 wins which is probably the minimum you think might give them a halfway decent chance at a wild card spot.

They'll score runs in the aggregate, 61-49 is doable, but another bad offensive week and they're in a deep hole. Better fix the bullpen quick.

Gotta get there in decent shape. Another 2015 would be awesome, but you can't plan for that.

That year's 88 wins would have missed the wild card in 2016, 2013, and 2012, and would have been in a tiebreaker situation in 2014.

They scored runs, yes, but they did not kill that staff like they should have.

The number probably seems low because of all the games that have been within a run or two that the bullpen melted down and blew any chance of a comeback.

Idk about y'all, but I'd be content with 2-3 over these next 5
