It's not even trash talk. They could point out their 7 game lead, and they'd rather talk about 2016 fangraphs records, jacking off, and call themselves daddy.

That's what I get for not reading carefully. In that case, I agree. The trash talking thread brings out some of the the worst Houston sports fans.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but there are some ******y comments from Ranger fans over there also

Yeah, it's really just a thread to jump in and poke them with a stick every once in a while.


They lose the head to head argument (in record fashion).

They lose the "never been this bad" argument (in record fashion).

They lose the overall franchise success argument.

They lose the attendance argument.


About all they have is 2 months of baseball (which last time they puffed their chest about they tripped up in amazing fashion) and "well uh, you haven't won a World Series either".

They're a painfully stupid bunch. They're like horn fans the past few years who are convinced at every glimmer of hope that they're "back". Then they inevitably **** the bed and lose to Kansas and we get to point and laugh at their schadenfreude. Let them puff their chests out now, cause Houston gonna Houston and it'll be that much richer watching them fail after spending all April and May planning their World Series parade.

The dumbest thing to me is the ****-talk about the Rangers being a bandwagon team, and somehow this Astros team's fanbase is comprised of hard-weathered fans who have followed the Astros since they've been horrific. That is certainly not true. Massive bandwagon has been built this season. The media has loved them for about 2 years too in terms of national coverage.

That's the entire point. The only reason for bandwagon smack is that fans of a losing team want to invalidate the fans of any team actually enjoying success. It's weak and lame and just makes the people using it look like sore losers.

I'd love to see what their Rule V exposure is. Their window of talent, IIRC, goes through 2019. At that point, they start to deal heavily with FAs and Long-Term contracts.

Like the Rangers... the Rangers had so many Rule V players, they started to lose them and were trading near-ready talent for mid-term trades.

Odubel Herrera as an example. Was 22 at A+ (Myrtle Beach) went .297, 0 HR, 9 SB. Rangers left him exposed and the Phillies had the ability to carry him. Rangers lost him and got nothing.

Lewis Brinson, as an example. I believe he was Rule V eligible after 2016. He "struggled" in 2016 going .237, 11 HRs as a 22 in AA. The Brewers had to protect him and they had the roster spot to do so.

The Rangers can only protect so many players.

The same... I think the Rangers sent a shot across the bow with Hauschild (SP-27). At the end of the day, you've either gotta protect, trade or lose these players.

Need a win tonight, unfortunately it's not likely to happen.

Steal a win tonight and head into the last stretch of the road trip at 3-3 and we're in decent shape.

And if we take just 1 from them and end up with a 4-6 road trip @Detroit/@Boston/@Toronto then I am perfectly fine with that.

4-6 road trips don't hurt you.... It's those 3-7/2-8 road trips that do.

Both the Rangers and Astros can make the playoffs this season. I am not going to say anything negative about these teams

I think it's just a 9 game trip. To go 4-5, I think we'd need 2 from the Tigers and 2 from the jays. I just don't have any confidence in the team winning tonight.
