So I remember it wasn't an option last season, but I've seen people discuss it this year. How reasonable is it for Gattis to get some innings behind the plate. Was he really that bad defensively? Is his arm at least better than Conger's?

All I know from when he caught in Atlanta was that he hit a bunch of home runs.

Headed to the game tonight... hoping the roof will be open since it's supposed to be clear skies and upper 70's in Houston.

Going to Stros/BoSox tomorrow afternoon, but first hitting up Jackson Street BBQ.

Went there last Saturday before the game. F'n amazing.

the alarming thing that many folks have mentioned...the astros started 18-7 last season...and went 68-69 the rest of the way...to finish 86-76. The team played phenomenal baseball for the first 5 weeks of 2015, but since then and into 2016...the club has been very, very average.

seems like Luhnow and others have overestimated the true talent level of the team.

the Red Sox (7-8) are in town for a 3-game set. Astros (5-11) have to win this series

As far as hitting instruction.. sure.

But a hitting coach who doesn't actively work to update the plate approach of literally every hitter on the team is literally useless and not worth the little he is making.

Add to that a manager with no backbone, with his only skillset being that he can identify what arm someones throws with and what side of the plate hitters stand on.. and you have us.. The Houston Rock..err.. Astros. An undisciplined team of incredibly talented young players with potential being wasted.
