Surprisingly, we were 18-12 in Fiers starts. Like McHugh, he needs to cut down on the clunkers. He'd string together several quality starts and then give up seven over two innings. Those are the ones that always stick out in fans' minds.
I think McHugh and Fiers are both guys that will see a slight improvement in ERA next year and I'd be fine with them as our 4th and 5th starter. It's the top of the rotation that needs work. Will Keuchel bounce back? Will McCullers be healthy? Those are the big questions.
McHugh and Fiers were a few clunkers away from being right near their career numbers, and overall, they pitched close to who they are as pitchers. Keuchel was way off. After posting nine scoreless outings in 2015, he had two this year. Combine that with seven starts where he gave up five or more earned runs and you just don't know what to expect next year.
