Why Kazmir instead of McCullers today?
Scottie hasn't lasted 5 innings in any of his last 5 starts, has he?
What is AJ thinking? Get Kaz twice through the lineup and then bring in McCullers?

Why do people insist on starting threads for something like this. There's a thread with 27k+ posts about the Astros from this season. Maybe it's just me, but that seems like a good place to post something like this

Newb who just came aboard and is afraid of all of us on our thread.

Kazmir has pitched 3 times against the Royals and has given up 5 ER, 16 hits, 3 walks, 14 SO, 0 HR in 21.1 innings of work and has gone 7 innings or more every time. He has started twice in Kansas City and has given up 2 ER and 9 hits in 14.1 innings of work.

That is why he is starting today, he has done pretty well against the royals, especially in their ballpark.

Assuming it goes 4 it also lets McCullers pitch at home. A rookie making his first playoff start in an environment where he plays much better (home vs road).

And we've stockpiled Fiers to come on in relief if Kazmir looks shaky the first couple innings.
And if it goes to Gm 4 I don't want Kazmir on the bump with our season in his hands.

Winning Gm 1 was HUGE for us so as to not make Kazmir's start a must-win.

Don't sweat it. You had the same reaction as most Astros fans at first blush.

Jump right in on that thread... we are all just talking out of our ass anyway. I agree with you on Kazmir. I wouldn't trust him to start any game. Mchugh, mccullers, keuchel, fiers should have been the rotation. Flip lance and mike if you like.
