I wonder how long this thing has to go before Girardi puts Mariano in.

Houston (51-111) set a team record for defeats and had the most in the majors since Arizona lost the same amount in 2004. The Astros finished with the lengthiest season-ending losing streak since the 1899 Cleveland Spiders dropped their last 16, according to STATS.

The Astros' 324 losses over three years matched the 1917 Philadelphia Athletics for third most in major league history behind the 1962-64 New York Mets (340) and the 1963-65 Mets (332), according to STATS.

Houston had two hits after the first inning and struck out 19 times. The Astros' season total of 1,535 set a major league record, six more than the previous mark by Arizona in 2010, and Chris Carter finished with 212 after whiffing three times; only Reynolds (223 in 2009) and Adam Dunn (222 last year) have struck out more.

My Astro e-friends, it was a fun season. And by fun I mean it was really really ****ty. But y'all are good people, and it will be a joy to experience Astro success again once this rebuilding project comes to fruition.

I 'enjoyed' this season more than the past couple of seasons despite the lack of any actual improvement in the win department. Maybe it was just wishful thinking but overall the team seemed to be more competitive this season or maybe I just didn't care as much so I was able to enjoy the wins and not really care when the bullpen blew another game.

The only positive to this season was not being able to watch this disaster unfold. Thanks for that CSN!!

Future looks bright and I'm ready to see some of this MiLB talent take us back tot he promise land.

Now who's going to to start the Astros offseason thread???

SIAP but did anyone catch this article regarding CSN filing bankruptcy?

quote:
HOUSTON -- The Astros issued a statement Friday explaining their position following a report that Comcast filed an involuntary bankruptcy petition on behalf of the team's regional sports partnership with the NBA's Houston Rockets, Comcast SportsNet Houston.

The network, which will mark one year on the air on Tuesday, is only carried in about 40 percent of the Houston television market, according to the Houston Chronicle report. The network is jointly owned by the Astros (46 percent), Rockets (31 percent) and NBC Universal (23 percent).

"Comcast has improperly filed an involuntary bankruptcy petition in an attempt to prevent the Astros from terminating the Media Rights Agreement between the Astros and Houston Regional Sports Network. HRSN failed to pay the Astros media rights fees in July, August and September, and we have invested additional money in order to keep the network viable through our season," the statement said.

"Despite not receiving our media rights fees, our objective has not changed. We will continue to work toward obtaining full carriage so that all of our fans are able to watch the Astros games while making sure that the Astros are able to compete for championships."

According to the newspaper, the HSRN is the partnership between the Astros and Rockets that was established in the early 2000s for the teams to market their media rights. The network will remain on the air while the Chapter 11 bankruptcy procedure is resolved, the report says.

To me Cosart, Oberholtzer, Peacock, Castro, and our minor league system were the biggest positives this year. It really sucked not being able to watch them on tv except when they were playing the Rangers.

I am not an expert on these TV contracts, but to me the CSN bankruptcy says that they were asking for too much all along. I'm hopeful that this means they will reduce their asking price to other cable and satellite providers in time to get a deal done before basketball season.

But, I'm not very optimistic...

The young starting pitchers (not named Lyles) pitched very well this season. I'm excited about our potential in our rotation.

Castro played lights out all season. He was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Dominguez provides us with some pop at 3rd and gold glove defense. I think he solidified himself as our everyday third baseman for the forseeable future (his average & OBP could get better though)

Altuve had an up and down year, but he still finished the year near .280, which is definitely acceptable.

SS still looks shaky, but Villar has the tools to be a very good player for us.

Outfield kinda sucks

CSN is a disaster. I can't believe I'm about to miss a full season of Dwight Howard.
Ag_07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Let me see if I get this straight...

If they file banktruptcy they will be able to void the contract? And the Astros are trying to block that?

What does that do? Does this have anything to do with getting us any close to seeing CSN?
