If I'm not mistaken, they both become free agents after this sseason. I think CJ is showing he has the ability to be a great closer. I doubt either will want to be a set-up man after this season, so who do the Rangers re-sign?

I don't see where it says we still have control over them after this year.

Ah ok. I don't really understand how the arbitration (like Arb 2, Arb 3) stuff works.

Re-sign both.

2011,
I doubt either one will want to be a set-up man. If either has the chance to go somewhere as a closer, then they will leave. Personally, I'd sign CJ. I think he finally has his act together, and his stuff has been nasty this year and he will only get better.

I agree that CJ's has been great and much more reliable than previous years. Overall I think he has better stuff than Frankie, but I still think there is a head case issue with him.

I also don't like him in a close situation against R-R-R.

If Feliz stays in the organization I would not be surprised to see him converted to a closer.

slowlane,
Good point about Feliz. I disagree about CJ. I think, if he keeps his head straight, that he could be a premier closer in the league. He definitely has better stuff than Frankie, but his stuff has never been in question.

Has a decision been made as to whether or not the move to the bullpen is a permanent move for Feliz?

the move won't be permanent for feliz. it's a gradual adjustment so that he can come up to the bigs and ease his way in. (look at holland)

he will be a september call-up (or earlier) and will be in the pen and maybe a spot start.

I bet he starts 2010 in the pen and may transition to the rotation.

I am hoping he is called up just after the trading deadline. Since it looks like the Rangers won't make any deadline moves, I'd love to see Feliz brought up sooner rather than later. If he is as good as advertised, I'd love to see Feliz, CJ, Frankie be the 7-9 inning guys.
