I'll buy that he didn't use steroids until he got to Arlington. I've always felt like steroids were more prevalent with certain teams than others. That's why some guys say stuff like 80% of players are on roids, because 80% of their team, the guys they saw everyday, we're on roids. I don't remember much about the Seattle teams of the late 90s, but I do remember seeing teams like the Rangers and A's and thinking, "Damn, those guys are huge! (That's what she said)"

But of course that is going to be more noticeable on a team built around offense and sluggers.

But the reality of it is, on that same Seattle Mariners roster that A-Rod was on?

Ryan Franklin named in the Mitchell Report.
David Bell named in the Mitchell Report.
David Segui named in the Mitchell Report.
Todd Williams named in the Mitchell Report.

And Jay Buhner... Well, was Jay Buhner.

Like I said, I don't remember much about the Mariner teams from the 90s. The only players I remember are Griffey and Randy Johnson, and neither of those two are really poster boys for steroids. The two teams that really stick out in my mind from that time are the Rangers and As.

Did Boone play with ARod in Seattle? That dude was as big of a juicer as anyone.

Edit: I just looked it up and Brett Boone didn't come to Seattle until 2001. However, in Boone's first year in Seattle his HR totals went from 19 to 37, so he may have found some roids left in ARods old locker.

being named in the mitchell report doesnt mean they did it while with seattle...

look at time frames for each player

i wish i had lots of time to respond to my favorite yankee taking steroids, but when i have free time, i will

I think he chose to blame everything on his time with the Rangers because he knows people won't really care. He doesn't have to deal with people in NY saying he threw his team under the bus, or anything like that. I don't think he really enjoyed his time in Arlington, so he doesn't have a problem with throwing that organization under the bus.

i agree.

he is a POS.

token, have fun defending him

i'm not defending him at all

i think its dispicable, and am enjoying the press ripping him to shreds.

Why he had to lie to katie couric is beyond me

JUST TELL THE EFFING TRUTH A ROD when asked the first time...

a few thoughts on the 1990's Mariners...

hey, if you needed steroids to hit home runs in the Kingdome, you were a real loser. That was a band box.

Regarding Jay Buhner I don't think he used. His body fell apart in 1997. He basically missed the height of the steroid era. And again he was a Kingdome legend.

I agree... You could make the same case for the Rangers players too... I think its quite obvious that Sammy Sosa didn't get on the juice until he LEFT Texas.

Segui was on it before he came to Texas.

Caminiti was on it before he came to Texas.

Canseco... Who the eff knows.

I'm pretty sure Conseco said he found roids in the minors. He was certainly still on them in Arlington, but it didn't start there. He also said he introduced Juan Gonzalez, Raffie, and Pudge to roids.

I'm just wondering how long until ARod finally admits that he's gay.

canseco also said he introduced a rod to roids, which a rod and other baseball experts with sources have said is untrue

Ryan Franklin tested positive in 2005. He was on the Mariners with A-rod for 1.5 seasons.

David Bell was caught purchasing roids in 2006, when he was on the Phillies

David Segui used for his performance later in his career, but had a doctor's prescription for HGH since 2001 for some medical condition. said he first used in 1999 with the mariners. He says he took it then to speed up the recovery process from an injury, and without the knowledge of anyone on the Mariners staff.

Todd Williams apparently bought it from Radomski in 2001, after Arod left the team and Williams was released by Seattle in 2000.

so, in summary that's a weak group of guys to try and implicate A-Rod was on a Mariners team full of roiders. only one we are sure of was doing it at that time(segui) and the others did it right around times when their career was falling apart with a different team.

i see the A-Rod haters are out in full force. only someone so blinded by their hatred of him could think he did a bad job yesterday or thought he came across as anything but sincere.

the issue of when he actually started and stopped using is a different issue. that is something we will never know.

+1

He's sorry now he did it, but he's sure glad he's rich now from the ultra success he achieved with the help from the banned substance.

Wish he could have been just as successful without it.

Didn't he say he started using them after he got his contract?
