Wow! Everything makes sense now. This quote however makes me feel a little better that at least the Rangers did something to get things done.

Someone already said this, but why not make it a 3 yr deal loaded with incentives. If it works out great if not just a small base salary loss.

He still has to accept that deal. There has been no indication up until now that he would.

Sucks for him, he's likely to get zero money and then have to prove himself if/when he comes back. What terrible timing.

I don't think any kind of deal at this point makes much sense, and JD/front office deserves some credit for doing their homework.

Sheets probably takes the year off, and comes back next year in a Freddy Garcia like capacity...where he'll probably try out for a handfull of teams and the highest bidder/team in the best position to win gets him. Maybe by that time, the Rangers won't have a spot in the rotation available?

Yeah, usually the Rangers are so excited a pitcher is willing to sign with them that they ink the deal long before the physical reveals that they just signed a mouldering corpse.
