Winter really gets to be a drag this time of year. The holidays are long over and the cold days drag on but we get a hint of spring weather as the days are slowly but surely getting longer.

Who's ready for baseball?

And will the Ranger's be competitive all the way through the season this year instead of folding in mid august of last year?

I was wondering who would be the first to post "pitchers and catchers report in X days".

I remember the good ol days of going out to Pheonix every year for spring break, and just laying out on the grass in the perfect weather watching baseball...
Honestly, it really doesn't get much better.

Damn work and responsibilities...

I wish Hicks would sign Sheets already. This team can be competitive this year- the AL West sucks ass plus we have a slew of young guys that could make significant, quality contributions

I've been counting down the days since New Years. The best thing about the Super Bowl is that it means baseball time is literally days away.

This.

My routine everday

www.texasrangers.com

If I see nothing, then on to

www.mlbtraderumors.com

Still nothing, then I turn to

www.newbergreport.com

If I'm really desperate I head on over to

www.prosportsdaily.com

This reminds me of what I did back in 2000 when we were looking at signing A-rod. Everyday I would come home and check ESPNews to see if there was anything new. O the life of a Ranger fan.

My excitement over the start of the spring training has nothing to do with football season.

Sheets-Rangers Talks Slow Down?
By Tim Dierkes [February 2 at 12:56pm CST]
According to Ken Rosenthal:

Free-agent right-hander Ben Sheets, another option for the Mets, could end up with the Rangers, but his talks with Texas have "less momentum" than they did 10 days ago, according to a source. The Rangers want Sheets only on their terms, the source said.

A week ago, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan wrote that Sheets wants two years while the Rangers prefer one year and a club option. The Rangers also continued to have concern about his medical reports.

If they end up being right on this, it will go a long way towards rebuilding any sort of credibility. Given their current level of credibility, this is going to backfire.
