I live in Houston, so I don't see them often. Heck, I don't watch pro baseball very much at all anymore. But the Rangers:

1) have more fun playing the game than any team I remember.

2) have a really nice t.v. broadcast.

Lewin and Grieve=Awesomeness. They're polar opposites which makes it perfect.

They're both big time homers, but TAG knows his sheet. Lewin ain't Holtzy, but he's damn good all the same.

Not to sound like i'm bashing the Astros, because I'm not, but I've had plenty of chances to watch their FSN broadcast where I live, and I just find their guys to be kinda boring. They seem to be too much like each other and don't sound into the game. Again, not bashing, but just telling you what I've witnessed.

I'm not a Milo Hamilton fan at all either. I liked Gene Elston a lot, and Milo pushed him out. He also disliked the Caray family, who I adored.

I loved tonight when a viewer complained that they were praising the rangers too much Tags response was simply "Well, you could watch Wheel of Fortune"

Josh Lewin is great because he actually shows emotion which is rare now in TV annoucing.

When someone hits a homerun or a game winning hit, he really gets into it.

milo hamilton doesn't do the television broadcast.

my only gripe about the ranger broadcast is thre viewer email questions they read.

They're so excited because the offensive guys are pounding the ball which is always fun and the pitchers are so excited because the offense keeps saving their ass here of late.

It's like watching Texas Tech play baseball.

I agree that Josh and Tom are solid guys but I love JD on the Astros broadcasts. He's a lot like Tom in that once your learn their personality you realize the genius of what they say. I do think JD is the better color guy from a technical standpoint but Ranger fans love TAG because he knows the history of the franchise and gets so excited.

Lewin know his sheet too.

Dude is a sports almanac.

He did an interview a year and half ago, right after LT finished that 31 TD season, and he gets paid every time that his voice is used in those replays. He said he had already been to Vegas twice on one the money.

JD makes a lot of inside jokes that you probably won't get unless you are hardcore follower of Astros baseball.

FIFY.

If you watched the Rangers the past couple years, you appreciate all of the non-baseball drivel. There were plenty of games, where they basically punted the baseball broadcast, and talked about anything but baseball. You still got to watch the game, but...

If you watch television, or movies, at all... he always injects a quote or reference.

I like Lewin and TAG...

Lewin's calls of the last two walk-off HRs (Hamilton's and Byrd's) have been NAILS...

I completely agree with your first observation. They're fun to watch in part because you can tell they're actually having a good time out there. It's refreshing.

that special segment they did on Tom's life is pretty good. i have a lot of respect for that guy and i would rather watch tonight's game on FSN with them commentating and not stupid ESPN "know it alls." tonight will be a huge Yankee man crush with a few things thrown around about how the Rangers are going ok and Hamilton is amazing.

This team is by far one of the most exciting teams in baseball. Lewin and Tom both threw out a couple quotes from the players that I thought were pretty good. (i dont know them word for word but...)

"This team is like cockroaches. It's impossible to kill us." -Jamey Wright

"This is the most fun I've ever had playing baseball." -David Murphy

Hated Lewin when he first came on. Someone gave him the hint to lessen the non-sports talk (Milton Bradley - Candy Land EVERY FREAKING TIME THE INDIANS CAME TO TOWN comes to mind) and increase the old sport stories and since then he's found a happy medium.

I said before, he won me over with the Dellucci call a few years back against the A's.

I'm pretty sure Grieve hates being called TAG.

I don't know if it's always been like this, or if anyone else has noticed, but Grieve says "boy" at the end of his sentences about 6-8 times a night. Annoys the hell outta me.

why do you think Grieve hates being called TAG? Don't you think he would've said something to Lewin for saying it all the time if he did?

I hate TAGs over relience on the pitch tracker. It has to be written in his contract that he can't in anyway disagree with it, and it drives me insane. I hate that thing

Other than that I enjoey Josh and Tom.

I also like when Victor gets paired up with Tom when Josh is doing football games. They work well together.

If Grieve hates being called TAG then he has hated it for many years. They've talked about it before on air that many, many people call him TAG.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a beef with the pitch tracker. Grieve acts like it's gospel every time they put the graphic on the screen. Does NASA calibrate that thing? Why do we trust it so much?

I like Josh quite a bit, but yeah, that is kinda spooky

Josh's goofiness is glorious. I met them both in Boston in April and both are solid individuals. The other night, Josh pulled out an "Opinions are like elbows, everyone's got em. Is that watered down enough?" I'm sure many thought it was stupid, but that's my kinda humor! I was rollin!
PatriotAg02
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Agreed. Lewin's goofy sense of humor matches mine. Half the time when he says those quips I think he does it to make sure people are paying attention. It's funny when Tag calls him out on the goofiness, too.

The broadcast team of Josh and Tag have made it worthy of watching even when the Rangers are sucking it up on the field. The other night when Grieve went off on the e-mail he got from the Yankee fan in Odessa. Sometimes you never know when something is going to set Tom off but it was funny hearing Josh egging him on.
