I like the Splitter pick a lot. If he stays in Europe another year, that's OK but I wouldn't be surprised to see him come over this year.

Plus, there's still the possibility of a guy like Derrick Byars in the 2nd round, a non-guaranteed cheap contract.

The best part is the Spurs getting a lotto-caliber pick...at #28. It's almost like RC and Pop giving a collective "NBA, suck it." every year.

Damn, I wasn't sure...I vaguely remembered (or wanted to remember) that he was for sure going to stay in this year's draft because he had no buyout.

Regardless, it's still a lotto-caliber pick. And I'm happy with that.

Maybe we-er, the Spurs can trade the Austin Toros for Tau Ceramica

wow...splitter is not like the ginobli pick in the late 2nd round. splitter was projected by some to be picked in the late teens. he was not an unknown commodity. spurs picked the best player available and that was splitter.

Foreigners HAVE to be in the draft when they are 22 if they have not declared in an earlier year. He had no option but to be available. If he wasn't under contract, he would have been picked in the late lottery.

Presti made a HORRIBLE pick with Carl Landry. He may have gone undrafted, and they took him with the first pick in the second round.

Pruitt was a solid pick by Ainge.

He pulled out of the draft the last three years.


Spurs may get Derrick Byars or Marcus Williams. Both could be perfect for the Spurs. I hope for Byars, despite his age of 23.

I liked Byars quite a bit, but Williams is good.

Crap, 3 years in a row Splitter pulled out. Good judgment by him, I think, in retrospect.

Fazekas is a pretty decent pick by the Mavs. They needed someone to carry the mantle of Keith Van Horn and Austin Croshere.
