I want to see us jump out to early leads with our starters and then slowly pull away with our superior depth.

Whether it is Harper and Champ off the bench or Fox and Harris the bench players need to play at the level of starters. No excuse to allow the offensive let down we often saw last year with our bench. We are likely that deepest roster in the NBA.

I expect Harper to take a huge leap. Hope Castle or Harper can be the knockdown 3 pt shooter we need at guard to be elite.

Here is what I expect to see from our core:

Big Jump - Harper and Harris (PF upgrade)

Small jump - Wemby, Castle, Bryant

Sustain - Vassell, Champ, Kornet

Slight decline - Fox, Barnes, KJ

Looks like starters dominated and were extremely efficient shooting. Great box score for under 20 min of work. Hawks went off in 2Q and who cares once we empty the bench. Hopefully bench takes a huge step.

I agree, I think he is going to be our second best player this year, be in the starting lineup after the all star break and will take the second most shots on the team come playoffs. I also think people are going to be surprosed with his 3 pt improvement.

Champ looks like he took defensive comments to heart. He's not going to make any kind of all defensive team, but his intensity looks a lot better in these two warm-up games.

Spurs changed the name when they moved to San Antonio. Prior to that, they were RWB and called the Dallas Chaparrals.

I'm not sure how long or how often the court was used, but there are old pictures of the early days of Hemisphere with the same court and colors

This may be sacrilegious, but I can't help but feel like this is the most talented roster from top to bottom that the Spurs have ever had. Even the deep bench and 2-way guys are talents I will still want to watch in blowout minutes. Like who is your garbage time lineup? JMac-Keldon-Bryant-Barnes-Reed? That's a reigning 6MOY, 2 ascending prospects, and a 14 year championship vet with a 40% stroke, and these are your 10-14 men. Super excited to see these cats respond to the heartbreak.

Need to find the right mix of players and translate that into a second unit that pulls away from teams. That should take big minutes off our starters and keep players healthy too.

The second unit fall off was our biggest reason we lost in the finals so it would be huge to turn into a strength.

I would love to see the following starting unit:
Harper, Castle, Vassell, Harris, Wemby - great defense, elite slashers in Harper and Castle, just enough 3 pt shooting in Vassell and Harris and elite MVP Wemby to anchor it all

Then bring in a second unit of:
Fox, Champ, KJ, Bryant and Kornet to go super fast and run teams ragged. Would love that to be a fast paced aggressive and relentless, unit that scores with Fox, Champ and KJ with just enough defense with Bryant and Kornet/Reed

Then add in Barnes and the rookies in spots.

I think the first quarter of the season will be just figuring out how all the parts fit in. If Fox is willing to anchor the second unit and get still get his shots/points for the off-season trade that would be huge for the team.
