It's pretty unfair to put this all on Sochan. This team shares the ball but they also throw a lot of I'll advised passes.

We need a point guard. That's not going to solve all of the issues but it'll cut down on the 'wtf are we supposed to do?' Even McDermott doesn't know what to do in our offense and he's the most tenured player in our team.

Maybe so. But a bad pass is a bad pass regardless. Every position is capable of making good decisions.

He made four of them in 18 mins as veteran a role player with a low usage rate. That ain't normal.

Sochan can be a good secondary or tertiary playmaker. He's actually shooting the 3 at 39% this year. Move him to the three, start tre, trade for a PG and move Keldon to the bench. And anyone that can't through a lob or entry pass to the tallest person in the league should be sent to Austin.

Sochan at PG does 3 things:
-Develops Jeremy's playmaking skills so that when he moves back to his more natural forward spot he is a more dangerous offensive weapon
-Forces our other offensive players (most notably Wemby and Vassell) to work on their own self creation skills
-Ensures that we don't play at our ceiling, therefore improving our chances of landing a second big fish in the upcoming draft

The ultimate goal is to build a championship roster around Wemby when he is in his prime years. This is probably the last year you can feasibly tank before a healthy Wemby is capable of Doncicing the team to 40+ wins every year no matter who you put around him, and that's exactly what we are doing. Pop didn't lose his marbles, he just has the kind of job security that no other coach has and that allows him to do what is best for the long term health of the team. It's intentional. We spent our off-season using our cap space to accept salary dumps in exchange for pick compensation, and then put a PF in the starting PG spot. Not sure how y'all couldn't see this coming or are surprised in any way that we aren't making much of an attempt to put our highest-performing lineups out there more often.

Yeah, Pop very clearly told everyone this was going to be a mess to start the season. I do wonder if they put a number of games on this experiment. At some point you need to start putting guys in defined roles and run plays to maximize your talent. It seems like the longer it stays messing the more you risk blowing the confidence of the young pups. They need some taste of success to stay sane.

I'm only slightly concerned at this point. Most of us knew they wouldn't be making the playoffs this year. Now if they are still making the same mistakes and getting blown out at mid-season then I will be very concerned. So even though it sucks to lose this way, I'm still in a wait and see mode.

Interesting tidbit about KJ in Lowe's 10 things this morning. Mentions how he isn't a good fit with Wemby as he is currently producing and that teams are monitoring his situation. Just move him to the bench already and move Tre to the starting lineup.

Edit: We'd be so much better if KJ was the one to spell Vic, not Osman.

I'd buy into the soft tank if players weren't already showing frustrations on the court and in the huddle.

I think Pop has to move one of Keldon or Sochan to the bench unit to unjam things with the starting lineup.

Moving Sochan still makes more sense, as having him on the court with Trey means two guys who can't really threaten teams from outside, leading to three on five on the offensive end.

I think Sochan's defense is way too important to have him move to the bench. Figure out a way to stagger he and tre's minutes after starting together.

And actually Sochan has been one of our better 3 point shooters this year given a small sample size.

Man, there's a long way to go, but that Toronto pick is looking nice right now hovering around #10. Hopefully they stay right there so they don't win the lottery while giving the Spurs a pick that's way better than #14-20.

Need it bad too, because that Charlotte pick is hopeless for both this year and next, and the Bulls keep looking like they're closer to blowing it up and going into a long term rebuild.
