Yeah, I didn't see what happened just before the inbound play, but it would have been crazy to foul him where he received the ball.

I don't know. Brown brought the ball down and had it at his hip for enough time to foul. But you could tell that Siakam was doing everything he could to not touch Brown at any point. It was clear that Carlisle's strategy was not to foul.

From watching the replay, as soon as he received the inbounds he went up with a shot fake, then brought it down to his hip then immediately went back up. It actually appears as though Brown was looking to get Siakam up in the air to potentially foul him on the fake, but he didn't bite. There might have been a split second in there for him to foul when he brought it back down, but would have been extremely risky.

If the strategy is/was to foul, then the Pacers erred not in not fouling when Brown received the inbound, but allowing the inbound to go any place where a player could catch and shoot for 3. You either funnel everything inside the 3pt line (where they have to decide quick-2 or get fouled for 2 shots), or you funnel everything deep outside the 3pt line where player can't realistically catch and shoot and they either have to heave up a prayer or will get fouled trying to get a closer shot.

Yeah they also messed up on the inbounding strategy, IMO. McConnell and Siakam should have switched the screen, but it was clear that they were going to do everything they could to keep Siakam on Brown. Because they didn't switch, Siakam had to navigate the screen and recover to Brown who was wide open for plenty of time.

They also defnitely got away with fouling Siakam on the Indiana inbounds

I didn't realize Conley was injured. I guess it is something he has been dealing with. He missed Game 5 against Denver. Seems like he'll play tonight but who knows, and maybe he will have to miss a game this series for some extra recovery. Any time he misses is big, because they don't really have any other initiators after him and Ant (at least not guys they would want to play in the WCF).

Conley going out again would be massive. He's their floor general and the maturity in the locker room

I think my main goal going in to this one is to try to not overreact one way or the other, but especially if we lose. We had a lot to be really disappointed about after game 1 in each of the past 2 series. Look how those turned out.

That run was all with Lively on the floor. Gafford is a good player, but this team plays so much better with Lively at C.
