Kendrick Nunn taking a 2 year, $10mill deal from the Lakers instead of other offers for a lot more money is a WILD move, imo.

He's only made just under $4mill in his career so far. Hope it works out for him, but wow.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Nerlens Noel turned down a 4y70mm contract with the Dallas Mavericks, then proceeded to make less than $9mm over the next 3 years.

Dennis Schroeder may be regretting turning down his deal, at least for this year. Pelicans maybe?

Lakers problem: Need more teamwork and unselfish players.

Lakers solution: Sign Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook.

This is right up there when they signed past-their-primes Malone and Payton.

Yea that's insane if he was offered a lot more. Do you know what the other offers were?

Haven't seen anything specific but both Shams and Woj mentioned he was offered better deals.

Nunn probably took a 1y with 1y player option.

Chase a ring this year, hopefully play well in the playoffs and earn a bigger contract in the off-season next year.

Insane anti-competitive BS. Dude is a legit starting PG in this league and the Knicks just got a 74m player for nothing.

Kemba's lost a step big time. Also, while it might move the Knicks's needle a little, their absolute ceiling is a 2nd round exit with how good the East is now.

Only b/c he's had injuries. It's still insane that OKC bought him out for literally no reason. How far the Knicks go is irrelevant to OKCs decision to just let Kemba just walk into NY for nothing.

They bought him out because they are rebuilding and want a top 4 pick next year. Then they save money in the process. It wasn't for no reason.

Edit: Also moving Kemba's contract for an asset would have been really difficult given his decline and guaranteed two years of almost $40MM. If Presti didn't think it was possible, trust me, it wasn't possible.

I understand OKC wants to lose and that moving him would be hard. That's not the point. The point is that releasing kemba was a bush league move. He had 2 years left on his deal and would start on almost every team in the league. NY was just gifted a starting PG b/c OKC is being grossly anti-competitive.

Do you play fantasy football? Imagine if 1 of your league mates just dropped a starting caliber player so his buddy could just pick him up for free.

"Save money".....OKC doesn't GAF about saving money. They just want to reach the cap floor and lose as many games as possible. This helps them achieve that....still doesn't make it any less BS.

I think you're overvaluing Kemba big time. But that's just my opinion.

I also don't understand how it's Bush league. It's not like a small market team is conspiring with a big market team. OKC did what is in their best interest as a rebuilding franchise. It's really that simple.

Not sure bush league is right, but I wish the rule would change, but I'm not sure how. I'm just not a fan of players getting paid for not playing and then a small handful of destination teams benefiting from picking up players on the cheap.

Related, but not the same, in also not a fan of players deciding to half ass it and get out of a contract or get traded.

Annual buyout exception that allows teams to spend up to the exception amount for a one year deal for a player bought out during the league year. Make it 3-5 million and make the Nets/Knicks/Lakers/Heat pay more for those players. Especially if they're over the tax.

How is that possible? He makes 4mm/year, so 333k/mo before taxes. He probably doesn't even have 200k/mo after taxes.
