We can and we don't want to pay the luxury tax this year to save up for the next couple of years
Rockets paid tax two years ago, but not last year and are currently 3mm under the lux this year. That will effectively reset the clock on the repeat offender tax.
I think the plan is to pay the tax the next couple years. By not paying it this year the repeater tax won't kick in until two years from now.
