The odds were against them, yes.

But the Spurs do win game 1 with Kawhi. Come back home with a 1-1 split and there is a decent possibility that the series would be 2-2 headed into a huge game 5.

The Spurs have lead the warriors by a lot of points for a lot of minutes this year. Even having taken game 1 it would be uphill, but that would have been the third game this year (not counting the bench vs bench fiasco) where san antonio had led GS by more than 20 points. So definitely a competitive series.

At least Rockets fans can move on to the Astros and Texans....what will Spurs fans do after next week? UTSA baseball still playing?
So the Texans are awful. Astros finally winning some games after a decade of ****tiness.

You do realize Spurs fans probably like baseball right? Probably cheer for the TEXAS Rangers and Cowboys who are both more successful in the last decade
WRONG.

Stros are winning at a historic rate and are the favorites to win it all this year.

Cowboys and Texans have performed similarly in the last decade.

Actually, since the Texans became an NFL team, they actually have more playoff wins than the Cowboys.

Find another city to latch onto bro.

I live in Dallas, bro. Spurs fan since birth.

My comment about the Astros is true, they've sucked dick for a decade or more.
Cowboys still are by far a more successful franchise than anything Houston has ever had. Texans making the playoffs in that terrible division since Peyton Manning left Indy is not something to brag about, especially with 0 to show for those "more playoff wins than Dallas"

A person living in a city without a major football team is not a small sample size. Millions of people have to "latch" on to a team if they're a sports fan living in an area without team.

These "latch on" statements are ignorant if I have ever seen one. If people living in smaller markets didn't "latch on" to an NFL team or another sports team, what are they supposed to do? Not enjoy watching and supporting a team in that sport? Ridiculous statement.

So that fans in every city can latch onto some mid 90s success like it means something two decades later?

Seriously, after Game 2 of this WCF, how do Mark D'Antoni and James Harden look themselves in the mirror?

It's not Jerry's fault completely, he has stated he would be supportive of a team moving here. 2 the NFL teams use SA as a bargaining chip, for example Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints. 3 it's not SA fault we don't have an NFL team for lack of trying, we built the damn Alamodome in the 80's to lure one. 4 Houston teams are trash

Without trying to make too many excuses I think it says more about the supporting cast than anything. Don't get me wrong Harden was awful, and showed about as much heart as Aldridge in game 2 last night (probably less). There was also a pretty noticeable difference in effort. In game 6 against the Rockets the Spurs just flat out showed more heart, hustle, and effort. Last night not so much....

MINOR differences: Spurs were playing a full strength Houston team, game 1 wasn't win or hit the golf course.

I don't think they understand the difference between having your superstar "mvp" candidate Harden, and not having another possible MVP in Kawhi and also missing Tony Parker who has been a big piece of the franchise for years.

I have a lot of friends who love the Mavs. When Dirk went down in 2003 they realized the same thing Spurs fan are realizing now. The NBA is not as much of a team sport as the NFL or MLB or NHL are. A single player in basketball can take over a game and win for your team, and is also going to always be a huge factor in how your team performs. Just ask LeBron.

Dirk missing the 2003 series vs the Spurs obviously hurt a **** ton. Just like missing Kawhi is hurting a **** ton now.

Rockets were FULL strength WITH Harden and got literally killed by a Spurs team missing that special guy. I don't understand how anyone can remotely compare the two.

I turned the game on last night, saw the score, and I am embarrassed to say it, but I turned it off for the Ranger game.

Such a sad way to be eliminated from the WCF - Spurs definitely had a chance. And once again, I am pretty sure both teams in the West that are remaining, could beat both Boston and Cleveland

The Warriors are a better team than the Rockets and they actually took advantage of the opportunity when Kawhi sat out. The Spurs did not play at the same level in Game 2 of the WCF as they did in Game 6, you can attribute a lot of that to the opponent being better, but again the Spurs did not show for up that game with the same level of intensity. With 3 days off in between games I would expect you will see a much different Spurs team in Game 3. Not just because Kawhi will probably be back, but also because I would imagine Pop had some not so nice things to say to his players after the game.

Oh I hope so. I have not given up hope that they can win, but I realize how slim the margin of error will be.

Spurs will have to win 4 out of 5 against a team who has won 24 of their last 25 games.

I will never doubt Pop though and his abilities.

good article on Draymond Green.

He seems like the type of player that you love if he is on your team, and hate if he is not. But probably almost every team in the NBA would love to have him. I bet Pop would gladly kick LaMarcus Aldridge to the curb right now and replace him with Green.
