Westbrook on pace for a triple double by halftime.

OKC is hanging in there against the home crowd and officials, playing smarter and more aggressive than in game 1. Hope they can pull off the win.

Never thought I'd be actively cheering for Westbrook.

To the point where they call for lolstaff to protect them from someone complaining about refs? No.

Might be the most accurate post of all time

I don't care what is posted, but You guys were already setting up the excuse if you lost tonight that it'd be on the refs, so it'd be nice to keep that vaginal bleeding to one thread.

Westbrook MISSED 26 shots tonight. MVP my ass. Dude's a supremely athletic, mediocre-shooting ball hog.

I didn't think my comment would draw any complaints because Houston shot a lot more free throws in the first half even though OKC was posting up and driving a lot more. Doesn't seem all that controversial.

Why are you responding to me? I'm not playing tonight, I'm watching the games at my house.

Been debunked as to why his usage is so high. Put the guys Russ has and put them with James Harden and you'd have the same usage rate.

That's a stupid comment. Put harden in okc instead of russ and kd would still be on the team.

How do you "debunk" 43 shots on a night when he only hit 39% of them? That's bad, stupid basketball. The end.

I always felt like the key to beating OKC was to hope Westbrook would hit some early 3's. Kinda the same thing against Lebron.

OKC's posts combined for just 17 attempts even though they have depth and size and they averaged over 50% from the floor and averaged more points per shot than Westbrook. Not to take anything away from Capella and Nene, but they foul at a high rate so the smart thing is to make them defend, try to get them in foul trouble (which would open the lane for everyone), and slow down the game so Houston has to play half court. But that doesn't get Westbrook 50-10-10, and that's why I can't say Westbrook is the MVP.

OKC has more talent than people give them credit for. Oladipo is overrated, but Adams/Gibson/Kanter/Grant is stout.

Agreed. Most teams in the league would trade their bigs for OKC's straight up.

Got this from another thread, but I agree with all of it. So thought I'd copy it here.

Oladipo is completely terrible and Kanter is fine on offense, but should not see a single minute in a close game due to his defense.

Their second best offensive option is Steven Adams getting a seal/oreb for an easy layup after a russ drive and dish/miss.

Russ should probably pull up less or at least make sure someone touches his arm then flail so he gets more FTs like Harden, but its hard to nitpick when the the other options are so bad and hes being guarded so tightly.

Also, their dumbass coach played 12 guys last night and RUSS was +11 in the 41 min he played. If you can't hold onto an 11 point lead in 7 spare minutes then you're pretty ****ed no matter what. No reason that RUSS' performance should not have been rewarded with a win even though the 4th quarter was not efficient.

Like Pahdz said, Rockets fans have a whole other thread to whine about officiating. I wouldn't go in there and complain about the Thunder not getting calls. That would be silly of me. Was hoping it would work the same for Rockets fans on the universal playoff thread, but oh well. Obviously I'm in the minority here.
Ulrich

Kanter is an excellent offensive player and Adams is an excellent defensive player with more offense than people realize, while Gibson is solid both ways. The real problem is that they spent all season padding Westbrook's stats instead of developing an actual offense that utilizes their interior strength so that they have a counter when teams overplay Westbrook. Technically they do have a counter, but "wait until Harden falls asleep and cut to the basket for a wide open layup" is only good for 10-12 points a game and it only works against Houston.

Good post. I thought they key stretch of the game was the three minutes Russ sat at the end of the third quarter. Usually that's when the Thunder would lean on Kanter to initiate offense, but he can't play (cuz the Rockets abuse him defensively) and the Thunder had no where to go. If not for a late-in-the-shot clock three from Oladipo, Thunder would have been shut out in that time frame. Rockets were able to cut a double digit deficit to three with ease.

Fourth quarter, Donovan didn't have much of a choice but to surround Russ with versatile defenders (Roberson, Grant and Singler (barf)) and hope Russ could carry the load offensively. The Rockets made some nice adjustments on D and Russ settled for too many contested jumpers.

Overall, I was very impressed with how the Thunder played the first three quarters. Donovan made the adjustments he had to make personnel-wise and the team played very hard (beat the Rockets to loose balls and controlled the boards).

Still think Rockets in 5. That was probably the best chance the Thunder will have to win a game in Houston.
