Acute Myloid Leukemia (AML) was my diagnosis as well in 2010. After a bone marrow transplant, I was considered a survivor in 2012, ran 1/2 marathon(first & last) to celebrate & raise money for LLS.
I am thankful every day to be here. Sometimes I get a little frustrated to not be able to do the things I used to do, but I'm here. I still play a little bit of basketball here and there, but with artificial hips (due to the prescribed steroids in the first year post transplant) it's not quite the same. All in all, I had it pretty easy. The vast majority he don't survive and of those that do, many face greater challenges than mine. Craig put up a great fight and brought needed attention to leukemia. I honestly believe we are not that far away from a cure.
