I love Khris and he's turned into a good player, but why the hell would the Bucks not take that?

The draft, even at the top, is gambling. Lots of top 10 and even top 5 picks never pan out. Middleton averaged 18/4/4 last year on 0.444/0.396/0.888 shooting, and provided great defense on the other end. I don't know about you, but I'd be hesitant to trade away that proven production for the third pick.

Just for reference, here are the last few third picks:
Okafor: good offensive player, leaves a lot to be desired on defense
Embiid: injury gamble that doesn't look like it's gonna pay off.
Otto Porter: in year 3, he averaged 11ppg. Not nearly as good as Middleton.
Bradley Beal: comparable to Middleton.
Enes Kanter: a good player who finally seems to be growing into his pick. At this point I'd say Middleton has produced more.
Derrick Favors: no better than Middleton.
Harden: great player on offense.
OJ Mayo: great first two years, then settled in as a good, but not great player.

So there you go. Looking at the last few years, I'd say the odds favor coming away with a player who's worse than Middleton if you're drafting #3. The only one who's clearly better is Harden, and even he has his team-harming defensive issues.
