Pippen said the Bulls would sweep the Warriors and Pippen would have held Curry under 20ppg.

What say you, Basketball Other NBA board?

I think Scottie is an idiot. It's hard to compare the two teams, but if I had to pick one of the teams I would pick the 95/96 Bulls. But him claiming they would sweep and hold Curry to under 20 ppg is stupid. It would be a 6/7 game series no doubt, and neither team would be able to stop MJ or Steph from doing what they do.

For more (biased) context, Barkley said it would be Bulls in 5.

I too am biased towards the '90s. I think the Warriors are a great team, sure, but I think the whole NBA is really, really down right now. I think this Warriors team playing the West just five years ago would be more like a 65 win team instead of 73 or whatever they end up at.

I think Bulls would win but I'll actually give the Warriors two wins. Bulls in 6. Mostly because that's how the Bulls preferred to beat people in the Finals. David Stern probably told them to make it go 6 just for more ratings.

Old players don't seem to believe in Curry's ability to shoot. Maybe under the "old rules" they could tackle Curry off the ball and limit some of the damage he would do. But you can't do that in the modern NBA. It would be a very competitive series under either set of rules. Calling for a sweep is just "old man yelling at clouds" syndrome.

Jordan would average 45 pts a game under todays rules

Spurs match up better vs bulls than the warriors

Warriors make it look easy so the defenses look poor.

95 Bulls weren't used to guarding the three. The players always leaned towards the rim. Today's players shoot 3s 5 and 10 feet behind the arc. Also many players can consistently hit threes while in 95, three point shooters were ""specialists "like Paxton, Kerr, Miller and Allen.

Refs also call games differently. Offense is more readily favored. In 95, tough aggressive defense was rewarded by no calls. Only the very best were given star treatment on fouls. Today, it much more tricky tacky.

10 years apart, almost a different era.

Almost silly to ask who would win.

I'd have to give the nod to the Warriors. I think Jordan would still average over 30 a game, but the rest of the Bulls offense would fall short.

Rodman would have a very tough time guarding Draymond Green or anyone in the Warriors smaller lineup that didn't include Bogut.
Not because he physically couldn't do it, but the guy was so worried about his rebounding stats that he would want to have one foot in the lane all the time and wouldn't cover the 3.

Not sure what Luc Longley would be doing out there, and I picture Kukoc being as effective as Danillo Gallinari.
Those Bulls big men wouldn't have been effective on offense either, or not enough to be on the floor.

Almost half that roster is unplayable against the Warriors, but was perfect for the competition they were facing during that era.

Spurs Rodman definitely. Bulls Rodman? He would have been kept in line by Jordan.

Maybe, he definitely would have been about a perfect of defender as possible on Draymond Green.

I just don't think Rodman would have been willing to have a 5 rebound game because he's having to defend Green at the 3 point line and on PnR.

I think he would if he was worried about Jordan stabbing him in his sleep. And I am pretty sure 96 Jordan would do that if it meant winning.

This. Pippin couldn't stay with Curry through screens with today's rules. But Curry isn't strong enough to muscle through the handchecks, bumps, and shoves of the 90s.

I don't seem to remember Rodman having a tough time guarding anything other than foreign policy.

He took a lot of plays off of defending when he was with the Spurs so he could stay in position for rebounding.

Classic lack of reading comprehension by WES yet again. Who made this about how awesome the Spurs are? Use quotes.

Yeah, my laughing at Pippen going all "back in my day..." and talmbout holding the most ridiculous shooter in NBA history (a guy who is not a Spur, btw) to under 20 ppg in a year when he's blowing away his numbers from his previous year's MVP-earning season is definitely classic spurfan behavior and making it all about SA.

But hey, you hate you some San Antone, obviously. Don't let me stop you!

Pippen is a fool. Didn't Shaq put him in his place for a similar comment just a few months ago?

The old guys use the "defense was tougher back then" line but like mentioned that was only guarding up to the 3 point line. Curry pulling up from 30 feet consistently would change the game plan pretty quickly. Also having 4 or all 5 positions capable of long range shots opens the floor unlike a lot of isolation and low post play of the 90s. It's really a stupid argument since the game has changed so much not necessarily good or bad. Just different.

That's what gets me. Past about 15 years or so, you really can't compare basketball eras to each other with any substantial consistency.

Just say which players were the best of their eras and leave it at that. It gets pretty silly after awhile.
