Make no mistake about it. Hield makes a phenomenal college basketball player. I'm not sold on him panning out in the NBA. I'll go as far as to say he'll be out of the league within 4 or 5 years (bump material?)

He's incredible at NCAA range 3s and scores a lot in the paint. Has a quick release too. Has basically zero mid range shooting ability. Hardly ever shoots from there and shoots at a low percentage when he does. I suppose if he can translate his long range shooting abilities to the NBA he will do just fine. Just seems like guards are suppose too be able to shoot successfully from mid range.

Predictions?

Steph Curry shoots better from 27+ than he does from 18-26 ft

In today's NBA it's not a necessity to have a midrange game

Curry is doing something that we've never seen before. Ever! That's a tall order for an upcoming rookie. I do however get what you're saying. This is assuming he's relatively accurate from the 3-point line.

Guards don't have to shoot from mid-range anymore. The NBA is now a layup or three-pointer league. The number and analytics guys have dictated that.

There was a statistic on ESPN a few days ago about the mid-range shot. I don't remember the number but it was VERY low. (<10%?? I don't really remember). The only people who shoot mid-range consistently are the PF/SFs who shoot shots like Dirk/Gasol..

In my opinion, he has great potential for the NBA. He is an extreme competitor and a total team player. He shoots lights out from the 3 and can finish with both hands. Also.. he has made some clutch shots from the mid-range in the NCAA tournament. He is not a streaky shooter the JR Smith.. I think he will have a shooting career like Damian Lillard (not the passing skills.. obviously isnt a pg either). I don't thin he is over-hyped at all. Simmons is over-hyped at my opinion....

The way this season played out here is how draft picks should, but wont, go (some teams dont need these types of players)

1) Buddy Hield - He has 4 years of experience on the floor and is an incredible player
2) Brandon Ingram - Insanely talented freshman and will be great in the NBA
3) Simmons - I think he will be good in the nba in a few years but needs time to develop in my opinion.

You are worried about the mid-range game... Ben Simmons literally has no shot outside of the paint. At all.

I think he has a ray allen ceiling and rip hamilton floor. Personally I think he will do well.

His game seems to translate perfectly for today's NBA. He should be a solid contributor at worst barring injury.

He'll probably be what Eric Gordon was supposed to be.

I just don't see how you can stop him from getting his long range shot off. If he can show a propensity to rebound and be even average at defense, he will game in the NBA.,

He is 6'-3" shooting guard.

He can improve once he gets in the league. Kawhi wasn't a 3 point shooter out of college and now he's in the top three in the league.

The rarity of his midrange attempts tells me that he is a disciplined scorer who probably doesn't even work on his midrange game. He looks to me like a great shooter with a good head for the game who can handle the ball and run the offense for stretches. I think he'll fit in just fine.
