How long do you want to ignore this user?
Heard a debate awhile back which a debater said Curry can never play another quarter in his life and he'll be going to the Hall. Thoughts.

7 NBA seasons
NBA champion
NBA MVP
3x All Star
2015 All-NBA First team
2014 All NBA Second team
1,401 career 3s made (26th all time)
Not even in the top 250 in career points.

No.

Put a few more seasons under his belt of playing like this, though, and he'll be a lock.

I already think he'll go down as the greatest shooter of all time, though.

Overreaction to claim already. He plays anywhere like this and they win 1-3 more championships and definitely a first ballot.

How many MVPs are not in the HOF? I would say yes he would make it

If he had been MVP of the Finals I could see a case made. But he was actually kind of crappy in that Finals. Its more of a testament to that team that they won. Curry is great but he has a TON of help on that team, its pretty much a Super Team, similar to the LBJ/Wade/Bosh Heat, the KG/PP/Ray Allen Celtics, or the Kobe/Shaq Lakers.

Let him win another Finals where he plays lights out, and then I'd say HOF for sure. Or if not that, play another 8-9 years, dominate for 5 or 6 of them, and he'll be fine as well.

Shaq, AI, and Nash are the only retired MVPs who aren't in yet. Shaq is obviously a given and I'd say there's arguments from people against the other 2.

The counter point to this is do you think Derrick Rose is a Hall of Famer?

Good points.

As you said, Shaq is in for sure. As for AI and Nash, I would say both make it in as well. Nash is a 2x MVP. AI has a weaker case, but its a shame because he was flat out filthy. I think people have already forgotten how good he was, so possibly he misses out, but I think he makes it in the end.

D-Rose is the craziest of all. injuries have ruined him it seems.

Current players who have been MVP

No duh category:
Tim
Garnett
Dirk
Kobe
Lebron

Case for and against:
Rose
Durant
Curry

I agree that Rose's injuries likely killed his career arc and chance at the Hall. Durant is an amazing player but hasn't taken his team to the promised land. Curry is flat out amazing but has only 1.5 great years so far.

Here's one. Carmelo. Not a MVP or champion but

9x NBA All-Star (2007-2008, 2010-2016)
2 All-NBA Second Team (2010, 2013)
4 All-NBA Third Team (2006-2007, 2009, 2012)
NBA scoring champion (2013)

I would put Durant in.

All star selections shouldn't ever count because of picks like Kobe this year.

Promised land meaming winning a championship or playing for one? Because he's at least done that.

I just can't believe he's been in the league for 7 years. I would say no he isn't a HOF player yet. He's had 1.5 great seasons so far and 3 seasons total that I think are HOF career building type seasons. Another championship and a couple more good seasons and it's a lock. Even 1 more championship (this year) would probably for sure put him in.
Ganondorf

I'd say winning it. I knew he played for 1.

I would say any of these happen and Steph makes it in:

- wins another MVP
- wins another title as the leading piece of his team
- has another 1-2 seasons like his last 2
- has another 3 seasons at an all NBA level
- has another 5 seasons playing at or near an All Star level, shooting a high percentage from 3 pt, being generally entertaining

If any of these happen, even separate for one another, then he is a lock. That being said, if he decided to retire at the end of this season, I would bet he makes it in. Especially since he is almost certain to be MVP again.

He's close which is crazy because I would imagine there aren't any HOFers with less than 10 years in the league. The fact of the matter is it's all about injuries. Guys like Rose, Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway went from All NBA to average pretty quickly. Add Yao and McGrady to the mix. There's no guarantee either of those guys get in.

Bill Walton played all of 80 total games at a hall of fame level and they let that hippie jackass in the Hall. It's kind of a joke at this point.

Walton is in largely because of his college career. Remember its the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Being good in the NBA is not required at all.

Walton would have gotten in anyway because he is popular with the media guys that vote them in.

Yao gets in if for no other reason that being an ambassador of basketball to China.

Yes on Yao, AI, and Nash. All significant contributors to the game of basketball. As mentioned before, this isn't like the Pro Football HOF or the The National Baseball Hall of Fame, and it includes contributions, international play, college play, etc, and the standard just isn't as high.

John Calipari already is in it. Globetrotters are in it. I even think Carmelo will get because he was a solid player for the Knicks (plus NCAA and International play).

Interesting note on Amos Alonzo Stagg (who is also in Naismith HOF): Stagg coached the University of Chicago against the University of Iowa in the first college game played with five players on a side on January 16, 1896. Also, played in the first public basketball game at Springfield Y, and scored the faculty team's only basket in a 5-1 loss.

Not directly related to this conversation, but I came across this comparison recently. I haven't verified the numbers, but interesting if true.

He's got to be cheating somehow. Like a magnet he activates in the ball when he shoots or something.

He's having one of the greatest offensive seasons of all time and nothing has ever come close to what he's doing from the 3pt line. 45.5% on 11 attempts per game with insane range is just gonzo.
