Just another terrible FA signing of all the FA signings in Cuban's time with the Mavs. Dampier, Haywood and now Parsons.

He was playing great before the injury.

Team results were the same.

Does Parsons now opt in or opt out of his final year?

I read that the plan is for him still to opt out. But with the cap going up year after year it almost makes sense for him to wait. But with as often as he is injured I'm guessing he wants to lock in a big deal asap.

I think he opts in, because I think teams are afraid to now give him a max contract with his second knee injury and likely surgery in a year. If he comes back well next year, then his contract is up anyway and he'll sign a max deal at the end of the contract

Second fiddles are max guys. Third fiddles are generally max guys too. Being a max guy doesn't mean you are a top ten player in the league, or even the best player on your own team.

But there are much better second fiddles out there than Parsons.

Aren't there only 30-40 max deals total right now? That's around one per team even with a lot of teams handing them out knowing the cap increase will make them relatively cheaper next year.

Yes, I think there are around 40 max contracts. I'm not saying every team has 2-3 maxes, but alot of the good teams have 3 maxes or 2 maxes with a value contract that turned into a star. And I expect the number of maxes will continue to rise. Teams seem to finally be understanding that it's worth it to max guys (or close to it) even if they aren't a one of a kind superstar.

I know you would probably rather have a sure fire superstar as your second max, but that just isn't possible for most teams. With the right team, I think he could be a decent/average second fiddle. But I definitely think Parsons is a very good 3rd max (or near max) player for almost any team.

Now, Wes Matthews on the other hand, I'd rather him be the 4th or 5th guy.

There are 64 players making 12mm+ this year. I think some of those were max or near max when first signed off their rookie deal.

I think Parsons is a good third fiddle, but isn't quite good enough to carry the load as a second fiddle, especially with his recent injury history.

You'd take pretty much all those guys just below him over him, except Tristan Thompson, right?


I don't think Chandler is vastly overpaid, but he is a bit. But that is just the nature of restricted free agency. Signing him did made sense and made Dallas stronger and Houston weaker. Cuban's plan did work.

I think Rick has carte blanche on who he plays and when. Even he realizes when he needs to make major shake-ups just to see what works- the frustrating thing about him is he seems to have these realizations too late

Justin Anderson has something I think.

Don't look now, but the Mavs have now won 4 straight. They've done what they needed to do- now it comes down to Houston and Utah coming up on possibility of making the playoffs.

Would've been awesome if okc could have beaten Houston today. There is also a chance we could pass Memphis. They could lose all of their remaining games bc their schedule is brutal.

Barea has been on an absolute tear lately.

Next 2 home games will pretty much determine the Mavs playoff fate. Go 2-0 and they are virtually guaranteed a spot. 1-1 will keep them alive but with work to do. 0-2 might not eliminate them but they will be in deep ****.

It's crazy that with 5 games left the Mavs could finish anywhere from 5th through 9th in the standings.

I went and voted for you, but it looks pretty plain. Not much different than what they have now.

I like #2 the best but I voted for yours. Did you just have to pick a logo and pick the color patterns? They are all very similar except for the colors.

Thank you for your votes! Please spread the word. They didn't want to completely overhaul the court, they wanted to make subtle, updated changes. I thought royal blue needed to be more prominent.
