Said it before, say it again, wish we had never traded away Crowder.

I'm surprised Carlisle let them pick up McGee. All the success they've had under Carlisle has come from intelligence and skill, not mentally-impaired athletic supermen.

And his mom was a pro, which makes his dumb basketball iq even stranger. You'd think she would have taught him something. But maybe he's just too dumb to retain anything.

He gives Zaza a rest, and he hasn't single-handedly lost a game for them yet. He's no solution beyond this year. The real question is what to do about Zaza this summer.

As far as last night, that Boston team could be scary as hell in a couple years. They looked so young and hungry during that game

Mavs really dodged a bullet with Tyson Chandler going to Phoenix. 4y52mm and he is giving them 7 rebounds and 5 points per game.

I wouldn't mind a Dallas-Houston first round.

Top 4 in the west are already locked up, imo. Maybe Houston makes a push for 5 and gets a winnable matchup against the Clips. Mavs could make life hard for anybody, but wouldn't beat any of the top 4.

Sucks for Tyson, but yes Mavs were quite lucky with what they landed in Zaza. Hope there's no revisionist history down the line where someone said they saw that coming.

This seems like an odd thing to say considering the Mavs are tied right now for the fourth spot and until a few days ago it had been theirs outright all season long pretty much. I guess you figure the Mavs are due to start slipping but I wouldn't count them out myself. The only ones they really don't have any chance against are the Spurs and Warriors imo.

4 straight OT home games, which has never happened before in the history of the NBA, apparently. Considering that this may be a peek at what the post-Dirk era will look like, last night was looking pretty scary for a while- especially against a young team with future all-stars playing lights-out- I mean, that freaking Karl-Anthony Towns was 27 points, 17 rebounds and 6 blocks- insane.

Parsons is starting to look more like his old self though- he was able to confidently drive to the rim last night and finish well, and made a key defensive play. D-Will's become our clutch late-game guy.

Bad game, good result

And now we have good game, bad result. Sucks to lose, but was pretty proud to see Mavs come back the way they did. Parsons is definitely showing consistency at this point.

Finally some meaningful time and play from Salah Mejri- monster blocks on both KD and Westbrook

That was pretty sweet Dirk nailing the game winner and Kobe giving him a swat on the backside in respect. Cool moment.

It's crap, but Dirk probably appreciates the break. Someone might get hurt before the game anyhow.

What they should do is expand the rosters to 15, and just like in the regular season three of those spots should be inactive. They could let the three inactives be older players who would rather rest up anyhow, or players who get hurt before the game. It would let them continue to honor the older players, but showcase the younger guys like they want to.

I never want Dirk to go to another All-Star game. There's nothing he needs to prove anymore, and All-Star games are overrated. Dirk needs to rest- I'm glad he'll be able to during this break

The rest argument is a little overplayed. I don't think playing 10 minutes at half speed is going to be any worse than staying home. I would have liked to see him named to the team and think he should have been. But he proabably doesn't care.

First ASG since 1997 without Dirk or Timmy.

Really feels like the end of an era.

Aldridge would be the player to get bumped if Dirk made it.

And I don't want to get in a pissing contest about Aldridge vs. Dirk with the Spurs fans. It's clear all of you know who would get bumped if Dirk had made it and are just waiting for a Mavs fan to say Dirk>Aldridge. They both are having good seasons. I think Dirk should have made it over Aldridge (as do most non-spurs fans), but I can see why Aldridge made it. Maybe there will be an injury that allows Dirk to slide in.

That's not it at all, my point was more about how a list of all the players who "deserve" a WC all-star spot is usually 15-20 names long most years.

As someone already said, the all-star voting is a joke. I'm not really a fan of the career achievement all-star awards, and I'm not sure Aldridge deserves his spot this year, but Kobe on a farewell tour and the second leading scorer on a 38-6 team will both make it every time.

I suspect that any argument about Nowitzki vs Aldridge this year will come down to whether you value defense.

That's not really it. I hadn't checked who actually made it; my point is that most years there are 15-20 players in the West who "deserve" a spot. The voting is stupid, but no player of Bryant's stature on a farewell tour will miss the cut and neither will the second leading scorer on a 38-6 team. That's just the way it is, and it's why you can't get too upset about all-star voting.

I suspect that an argument about Nowitzki vs Aldridge would come down to whether you value defense. I'm not sure I would have put either of them in the all star game, but my argument for Aldridge would have to be based on his shockingly good defense for most of the season so far.

Yea I agree. The argument for Dirk is that he's more of a #1 option on his team. But the defense definitley goes to Aldridge.

There were other snubs as well. You could easily make a case for Lillard over Harden, who sucked for a big portion of the early season.

And of course Kobe is taking up a spot.

I think it's more than just playing time. Traveling to the game, staying in a hotel, doing all the activities and interviews and whatnot leading up to the game, traveling back home afterward, etc. It's not a huge deal, but I'm sure he appreciates not having to do all that.

Aldridge and Dirk's offensive numbers/PER are surprisingly similar.

Ultimately Aldridge is a better defender and the Spurs have the best record. I think it is fair that he got rewarded. Still, Dirks clutch shooting this year has basically saved the Mavs. Maybe Dirk has been more valuable to the Mavs than Aldridge has been to the Spurs. I don't think that is a good enough reason for Dirk to get in over Aldridge though.

This is why I'd rather him do what he wants to do and get some mental rest. The All-Star game is meaningless to someone like Dirk at this point in his career, and if you listened to his interview during the Warriors game it pretty much came across that he doesn't want to do it, but would begrudgingly go if asked

its not the game time i am worried about in terms of rest. its the travel, the media commitments, the shoot arounds, which all adds up. i would rather him go to bermuda or the bahamas and chill.

Tyson got lots of love tonight. Before tip, he went over to the Mavs bench and hugged guys- even Carlisle, and after the game he hugged Cuban mid-court

It'd be utterly hilarious if Phoenix bought out his contract after this season and he came back here as a reserve
