Parsons is not a long-term answer. Need to trade him and try to net a big fish (said this a million times before and it never happens) because there's no way he will opt out.

Tough loss tonight, but it was good to see the Mavs put up a good fight in the second half.

I think if Parsons can ever get into a groove, we'll be a pretty dangerous team.

Side note: cool to see Khris Middleton tearing it up. He has been playing at an all star level the last 10 games

I think they're most shallow at forward- with Parsons' play while still coming back from injury, and the absolute uselessness of Charlie V, they need better help there- which is why I think everyone is salivating at Noah for next year if they can swing it. At this point, if they can't trade for anyone, I'd rather them just remove Charlie V and run a combo of Jeremy Evans and work on Salah Mejri to back up/replace Parsons

Well, it was nice to see the Mavs be competitive against the LeBrons, even if the result wasn't favorable. The last two times LeBron has been here he just seems possessed and angry- to the point that I'm surprised he didn't get T'd up in arguing with everyone tonight. But then, he is LeBron- he just seems to assert his will- even if it's slamming the backboard causing a shot to not go in late in the game

I enjoy watching the Mavs but it is impossible to take them seriously as a championship contender. Even taking a biased view. When I look at the standings I don't look up wondering how the Mavs will catch a team, I look down hoping that they stay in the top 8.

That doesn't mean that the season isn't fun to follow or that I don't care about their results. First of all, Dirk. Enough said. Second, this is a gritty team and Carlisle is a wizard. But they have no chance at winning it all. The NBA champion will be either GS, SA, OKC or CLE. If I'm feeling generous I might include LAC.

Unlike maybe some other teams the Mavs don't even have a potential trade or move to put them in the top group. I don't know if there is that much to discuss until the playoffs get near.

I'm under no delusion that they're a threat to GS or the Spurs, but there's still plenty of interesting things about this team to talk about as the season goes on, as I find the integration of this team rather fascinating in the wake of what happened this off-season. From the amazing comeback of Wes Matthews from his injury, to the back-and-forth of Parsons' play as he's struggling to come back from injury, to the surprise play of Zaza who's been much more efficient than even Tyson to this team, to Dirk's timeless play and climb up the scoring list, to Carlisle's continued amazing coaching in the face of turnover every year....I'm enjoying all of it. Or maybe I just want something to talk about on this thread after each home game.

Swept the season series against the Bulls, and came very close to beating the Cavs at full-strength. The tough stretch continues on, and I'm very interested to see how they fare against the Spurs at this point in the season

I'm convinced that Dirk will catch Wilt at the end of next season.

Nice little video about Grubes now being the Mavs DJ at home games. If you're a Ticket P1 you certainly know Grubes, but he seems to now have attained this weird status as unofficial Dallas sports mascot since it seems everyone loves him and he pops up all over the Dallas sports scene.

So since I'm sure the Spurs thread is full of back-slapping and glad-handing after that embarrassing showing, just checking in on the Mavs side. Hey, at least we play Boston tomorrow night

We know we aint winning the chip. So we just follow and not really post about it.

Rick Carlisle is one of the great coaches - any sport, any level. He takes a completely new roster every season and makes them competitive. I have a lot of respect for the Mavs, and it's unfortunate they haven't been able to rebuild. But that said, they have a ceiling of a first round playoff victory, and it's just not that much to get excited about.

It's so hard to watch JaVale McGee play. There are 5th graders that have a higher basketball IQ than him.

I'm just hoping we can somehow manage to get the 5th or 6th seed so we don't have to play GS or San Antonio in the first round.

I wouldn't mind a Dallas-Houston first round.
