According to the article, they would be giving up Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes. Gotta think Charlotte is looking for a draft pick as well since Stephenson is effectively an expiring contract while Hawes has 3 more relatively expensive years left.

What do you guys think? I don't see how this changes much for LAC. Stephenson is better than Barnes and Hawes, but they're still trading 2 for 1 with already terrible depth.

The clips dumped a 35 year old with few skills left for a 24 year old triple double threat.

It's not going to win them a championship but it's a step in the right direction.

hawes is making less than $6M per year. that's not very expensive, especially when the new cap starts. the hornets made a huge mistake when they signed stephenson, as he's a 3rd or 4th option on a good team. Similar to Draymond Green, who could sucker a team into giving him a huge contract to be the #1 or #2 guy when he's not the guy to give you 20 & 10, but 15 & 8

The Clips like to space the floor and Stephenson isn't a shooter. He's also undersized as a 3, so I'm guessing they're going to part ways with Crawford as well.

Just seems like a zero sum move to me. They gave up almost nothing, but I don't see Stephenson as a good fit. Plus he was dreadful last year.

Sure he was terrible last year, but the year before that he was very good for Indiana. All he needs to be is very good again. The Clips will run the offense thru CP, BG, and DJ and then Lance will get his attempts after that. He isn't a #1 guy and the Hornets thought he was.

What if they don't keep DJ?


I'm assuming they do, or at least know they will.


If some of the stories are true that a few of those starters don't really like each other, then adding Lance into the mix isn't going to help.
