How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would almost bet my life I could have taken a healthy KD and Westbrook to a championship.

Doc gutted the bench and should be relieved of his GM duties, but he's a great coach. It would be stupid to fire him as a coach.

Not sure that he's a great coach, or at least not an upgrade over Vinny.
Or Scott Brooks.

I'm not saying those guys are better than Doc, but the greatness of Doc Rivers is overstated, IMO.

So you would be willing to start over with Vinny or Brooks? What have they done in the league?

I take it you struggle with the phrase "not an upgrade".

They have done pretty much what Doc has done on teams he's coached when he didn't have 3 HOF players.

Doc is a good coach, better than Vinny or Brooks, but not a great one.

Doc is a very good coach. 0% chance he gets fired.

Brooks had Durant, Harden and Westbrook. Three HOF players, but no rings.

It's incredibly early to say Durant, Westbrook, or Harden are HoF already. Do they all have a chance? Yes as they are all good players with Durant having the best chance imo.

This is likely true, but it also doesn't account for age. I don't think VDN or Brooks are great or good coaches, but I just don't think Doc is in the same realm as Pop or Carlisle, nor that different from the majority of other coaches.

For Brooks, Harden's last year in OKC, they lose to the Heat in the championship. The three "HOF's" are 24 or younger.
The previous year, they lose to the eventual champs Mavs in WCF.
Harden's first year, they lose to eventual champs Lakers. Durant, Westbrook, and Harden could have all been in college still. Even Jordan doesn't lead teams to championships at 23.

Doc's Celtics squad get together and win championship, lose championship, beat by Heat, beat by Heat, so I guess they regress under Doc. Or, it could be age...or the competition...

VDN got rookie and second year Blake, Doc gets 3rd & 4th year Blake, and better DeAndre.
After two seasons with Doc, the Clippers have gone from a 56 win team under VDN to a 57 then 56 win team under Doc. VDN took a team to the semi's, Doc has taken the team to the semi's.

It just seems that for an actual upgrade, you would see actual improvement.

Vinnie was really bad at in-game coaching. Lots of bad decisions, his timeouts were poorly timed, and his adjustments usually led to runs for the other team. Doc seems to be a solid in-game coach and a really good off-the-court coach, but he's not a really great coach and he's definitely not a good GM.
