Same thing if Houston got shafted in this scenario instead of the Spurs/Clips. Regardless of awarding the team who actually had the better record with their correct seed, this directly affects those seeded above Portland. The Clippers played a much tougher opponent, an opponent they should have avoided if teams were seeded by record, and almost had their playoff run ended early. They were seeded above Memphis but had the tougher first round match-up.

So he was whining before, during, and after he lost. So he's being even more of a crybaby than I thought. Don't lose to the pathetic knicks, and it's a non-issue. He should be mad at himself for getting outplayed and outcoached by a pathetic knicks team instead of crying to daddy silver to change the rules.

This was great. Mark has some good ones every once in awhile.

Give them a division banner if they win it. That's their prize. Then seed all 16 teams 1-16 based on record. If the Clips and the Warriors or the Bull and the Cavs end up in the finals, then so be it. The best two teams played in the Finals, period.

Or make division winner the first tie breaker over head to head.

But it still makes little to no sense because the entire conference basically plays the same schedule.

It would have been an issue for someone no matter how the Spurs did against the Knicks. The Clips, Rocks and Spurs all easily beat the Blazers.
