I'm surprised Perkins didn't get suspended as well.

Torn labrum. Not the worst thing ever, but it means it will slide out of socket much easier unless he has surgery.

No way he'd be back by early June. He's done this year.

That said, I can still see the Cavs making it to the Finals without him. They could still win it all if Lebron and Kyrie are lighting it up.

He's gonna be out for a while. Close to a year.

I tore my labrum at the end of March, had arthroscopic surgery to repair it in early April, and it's going to be close to a year before I'm back to 100%.

Shoulders take a long time to heal....

Torn mine twice. The second time, it combined with a broken ball of the humerus and a partially torn rotator cuff. 18mo of physical therapy.

Hugely painful recovery process.

Holy ****.

I had a Hill-Sachs lesion on my humerus, but it certainly wasn't broke. That sounds miserable man.

It was. Sixteen months before I could reach out laterally and grab a bag in the drive through.

Cavaliers forward Kevin Love underwent successful surgery this afternoon at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City to repair his dislocated left shoulder. The surgery was performed by Dr. David W. Altchek. Continuing treatment and rehabilitation at Cleveland Clinic Courts and Cleveland Clinic Sports Health will be conducted by the Cavaliers' medical staff and Head Team Physician Dr. Richard D. Parker. His projected recovery time is four to six months.

Has anyone heard what kind of operation it was? I had a "bankart repair" for a torn (well, stretched-out) labrum about 18 months ago. I'm still not quite 100%.

No way he's back in 4 to 6 months, if the damage is bad as that quote above made it sound. Unless athletes truly are superior and have Wolverine-like regeneration.

remember athletes have access to better medical personnel, 24 hr treatment and are in better physical shape than most people. They are not going to be on the same timeframe as you

That's true, but if it's the procedure I had then it's akin to gluing the inside of your shoulder socket back together, letting it sit for 4 weeks, and then slowly stretching it out again until you get your full range of motion. It took me 6 months to get the range of motion back, and I wasn't hanging my entire body weight from the rim after an alley-oop. Hopefully his operation wasn't quite as tricky as mine.

If Love is back to 100% in 6 months, I'll be simultaneously shocked, impressed, and jealous.
