It was pretty apparent early in this game his cohorts in the starting 5 were not gonna be any help. This game was all about the bench and Russ (hence that +/- stat...which i have never put much stock in)

Westbrook named Western Conference Player of the Month.
He joined Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to put up a 31-9-10 line for a calendar month.
But according to G-Soup, its not a big deal because February is the shortest month of the year.

He had a fantastic statistical month of February. I don't see anyone who is, or could, argue otherwise.

He played very well. No one has insinuated otherwise.
But no matter how great he has played recently, he wouldn't be in my top three choices in the WC if I was building a team.
May be why you aren't building teams for a living 
i dont know that I'd necessarily choose him in the top 3 either (and I'm his biggest fan) but we have him and damn it I'm going to defend him like crazy if I have to.

He helped a bit last night. Amazing that he did that 5 days after getting his face caved in.
Davis is special for sure. But what Russ us doing is historic. The list of guys with 40 point back to back triple doubles...Jordan, Maravich and Westbrook. Only 5 players in NBA history have 4 straight triple doubles. It was 4 before last night.

You would have the best fantasy basketball team ever if every game you could play Westbrook and whoever Westbrook is up against.
Canaan, the D leaguer who couldn't get playing time over Beverly and (insert Rockets spare backup point guard here) put up 31 points, 7 rebounds, and six assists. Canaan wouldn't get a minute of playing time on any other team in the NBA and he goes off on Westbrook. Pretty sure it was his career high in every category. When Westbrook was on the floor his teammates, wait they aren't teammates, they are the people who stand around watching him do the "russell westbrook show" were outscored by 12. In the 11 minutes he didn't play, the team (they are indeed a team when Westbrook sits) outscored the Sixers by 17 points. I know plus minus isn't the best stat around, but when it is like that every game you start to see a pattern.
Huge stats, hurts his team. Like I said, no interest in team defense, no interest in moving the ball, no interest in working the offense or defense, just interested in doing the Russell Westbrook show.
I would HATE being his teammate or coach. He is turning into Kobe right in front of us. Team killer with big stats.

I am convinced you and a few others here do not actually watch him play, but just look at a box score or highlight. I don't know how averaging over 8 assists while also being the teams go to scorer in Durant's absence makes him someone "not getting teammates" involved. Last night, he probably would have had double the assists if it weren't for buttery fingered teammates or guys missing some point blank shots. He was running the pick and roll very smoothly last night.
As for the D, he wasn't guarding Canaan the entire night (but I acknowledge he is still prone to lapses, but athletically when he wants to he can shut another PG down easily, and has before), but the bigger issue there is not individual players but the Thunder's defensive scheme. I've heard it in person from Durant's and Brooks' mouth in a season ticket holder event with about 25 people in a room that unless they are playing GS or HOU, they number one focus on D is the paint, and they are willing to gamble with teams hitting or missing 3's to protect the paint. I believe that, just making a point that looking at numbers doesn't always give you the full picture of how well someone is getting teammates involved.

Harden and Russ can probably swap some good stories on assists lost passing to Perk and Ibaka

If his defense was very good, why did Isaiah Canaan have 31 points on 16 shots? 31 7 and 6 for Isaiah Canaan. And they went to OT to the 76'ers. Every Thunder starter had a double digit negative +/-. To a D League team.

The starters (other than Russ) didn't have good games at all. That would account for his +/-. As Pahdz mentioned he wasn't on Canaan much. He had a few nice steals - including one where Brett Brown just shrugged and stated:

Man it sounds like Westbrook ****ed some of yall's sisters or something. Much of the criticism is warranted, but the dude has been playing lights out for most of the season. If he could cut down on a few bad shots a game (especially 3's), he'd easily be a top 5 player in the league if he isn't already.
Still do not like him, but this...got damn.
