So if this was the best division of all time, then the winner of said division must be the best team of all time. Its only logical.

And the whole division is in the playoffs.
How often has this happened? Inquiring minds want to know.

According to reddit, it happened in 05-06 with the Central Division. But it was the East and 3 of the 5 teams were at .500 or lower.

x-Indiana Pacers41-41
x-Chicago Bulls41-41

-Milwaukee Bucks40-42

Not all that impressive really. What happened with this division is far, far more impressive.

Thanks, I figured it had to be pretty unique

If I'm feeling particularly dull after the SA A&M Club Happy Hour tonight, I'll pull together some numbers on the SW conference's dominance this year.

Not that it is news to anyone but the West is just so damn impressive compared to the East

(8) seed Pelicans would be (6)
(7) seed Mavericks would be (3)
(2) - (6) would all be better than the (2) seed Cavs
(1) seed Golden State would be ahead of (1) seed Atlanta

I suggest y'all hang a banner to commemorate the fact.

Since Larry won't be leaving the Alamo City and all.

The Dallas Morning News said that this was the fourth time it happened, but didn't list the other times.

EDIT: The 1986 Midwest Division sent all six teams to the playoffs, including the 8th seeded Spurs, who had finished 35-47.

Kind of an apples and oranges comparision. There was 2 divisions per conference and only 12 teams in the west.

2 seed Houston Rockets finished 51-31 and won the division, marched through the west (11-3), but fell short vs the Celtics.

Unless the Mavs can win, the SW division might start 0-5 or even 0-6 if the Pelicans lose again tonight.

Amazing how much difference one season makes.

New Orleans 24 - 22

5 Memphis 24 - 19

It's kinda funny to see those standings from last year and see that the difference between the 2 seed and the 7 seed was 3 wins or so. This year, it is 14.
