I was going for best wing and best big for each franchise, but I cannot deny mad max. He was my favorite player growing up. Role model, huh?

I think I'll go with Timmy and Manu for the Spurs. Peak Manu's defense is elite, he's a gambler who will come up with some of the crazy plays you need to win against this quality of competition, and he's still really good against man defense even if not quite at Parker's level in the pick and roll. The only downside is that there's not enough chaos in a 2-on-2 game to really take advantage of his BBIQ.

Manu is WAY better than Parker. And would be a better, more entertaining arcade game player as well.

Yall are on crack. Parker > Manu and it isn't that close.

Not at Manu's peak and not for a game like nba jam.

Parker is better now, but he's also 5 years younger without the injuries Manu has had. Manu was a freak at his peak, but he subordinated numbers to the team. If it were offense only, I would probably take TP over Manu (although Manu's range makes it tough). However...

Parker is an average defender; Manu has the second highest career DRtg of all time among perimeter players. Some of that is from playing with a guy who may be the best help defender ever, but Ginobili has an incredible mind for defense and a knack for forcing turnovers when they are needed.

Still take Manu in a game like NBA Jam.

Manu at his peak was a 20/5/5 player with .460/.401/.860 shooting and great defense and was 2nd in the NBA at PER at SG behind only Kobe.

Manu was great at finishing at the rim, threes and defense/steals and that is what you want in an NBA Jam player.

In nba jam I would also take Manu as I usually picked up a range shooter to go with a dominant big man. When that 3 point shooter is on fire you can really rack up the points.

Except it wasn't quite 20/5/5 and Parker best was about 22/7/4 and shot over 50%.

But Parker was still inferior defensively to Manu throughout his career and Manu has three seasons over Parker's top PER. Manu's still unquestionably the better three point shooter and Parker can't dunk, which was fairly important in NBA Jam. I realize you were too young to really appreciate it, but dunking, threes, stealing and blocking are the most important things in the game and Manu's better than Parker at all of that and it isn't close.

I played NBA jam for hours on sega.

Regardless Clyde the glide would yam all over either.

I always liked the super fast guards, and if they could shoot, all the better. So Isaiah Canaan would be perfect for me, even though he isn't great in real life. If we're talking about who we'd play with in the game, not who we'd actually match up in a real 2v2 on the court.

For the same reason I think I'd take David Robinson over Timmy for SA.

For NBA jam...might have to consider Kidd & Finley for more jam potential

KJ & Barkley was also great on NBA Jam.

I think the Mavericks on my version were Derek Harper and Ro Blackmon? And the Spurs were Robinson & Elliott.

And on the other end of the spectrum, MIlwaukee had Blue Edwards and Brad "The Vanilla Gorilla" Lohaus

On the arcade the Mavs had Derek Harper & Mike Iuzzolino. On the home version it was Harp & Jimmy Jackson.

The Rockets had Hakeem/Kenny & Hakeem/Maxwell.

The Spurs had DRob & Elliott on both.

I remember a tandem that was really underrated in that game was the Nets with Kenny Anderson and Derrick Coleman. I'm not saying they were a top five team but I could definitely beat dudes with them.

Dream and Mad Max were my favorite.

Durant and Westbrook

(Edit - forgot Texas only, in that case Dirk and Nash, below the rim but on fire all the time)

Even as a Spurs hater, the Spurs were my team on that. In addition to Robinson & Elliott, Rodman's defense was clutch.

First thought I had was Durant and Westbrook.

If we're talking about actual players on NBA Jam, I always like Morning and Johnson.
