How so? He is behind in every statistical category except championships. Clearly the benefactor of having Shaq on his team vs playing in Cleveland with no help for the first few years.

It's tough to forget Jordan's next few years for a comparison like this, but based on the numbers listed Lebron is the clear winner and Bryant is the clear loser. Based on real life, it's pretty close between Lebron and MJ with Bryant again the clear loser.

James has already surpassed Bryant's peak as a player and has more impressive individual achievements. Bryant has more rings, but three of them were Shaq's so even that isn't a runaway.

Have never understood why rings trump every other category. It is mike and lbj with Kobe a distant 3rd IMO

Looking at that list, Jordan/James are in a dead heat (no pun intended), and if James gets a ring this year he edges ahead. It's a little tough to compare post and perimeter, but Duncan is behind those two, although not by much. Bryant is clearly trailing far behind the other three players on that list. It's also interesting to note that Jordan/James/Duncan all elevated their game in the playoffs while Bryant declined slightly.

What this leaves out is IMMENSE (that means really big)... Detroit was a dominant dominant force that MJ had to take down w very little role support. Lebron played in a very weak east and had top shelf teammates.

James may be a freak of nature, but MJ was twice the player, and 4x the man.

The teammates comment is only about Miami as the Cleveland crew was bad.

Also, it's not like Jordan had himself and 11 scrubs.

They were both the best players of their time. On that we can agree.

You cant possibly think MJ was 2x the player LJ is. As for teams to get past; Heat have had to play plenty of good teams. The Detroit team wasnt anything incredible. They were just that times version of the Pacers. A bunch of disfunctional personalities all buying in around the concept of being bigger and rougher than the next team with a great player leading the charge.

MJ was incredible. LJ is incredible. Its probably a dead wash between the two right now if you can even compare a player from 1 generation to the next. And what the heck does 4x the man even mean?
