In a league where 16 teams make the playoffs every year, the Rockets have one playoff series win in 17 years.

Garbage ownership. Garbage front office.

Dude, Portland got lucky.

And I'm a Mavs fan

Can Leslie please say something racist please. Maybe we'll get an owner who sees the miracle like benefits of tanking.

Daryl Morey = genius

Certified.

I don't think the front office is that bad, they've been decent all those years for the most part. We just haven't had really good superstars.

A GM's most powerful trick is the tank. Hard to evaluate a GM who can't make us of his most powerful weapon.

I'm not sure this year falls into the complaint category though. Freak series with plenty of weird plays on both sides, questionable calls on both sides, and one team who seemingly didn't miss for six straight games. They got hot and earned it when it counted. That's not to say that the Houston roster isn't one that should win. It just didn't happen. Compare that to previous years where they weren't even close. Huge difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Morey has any basketball background. He is a statistical analyst. Great to have a guy like that in the front office, but he is somewhere in the backroom - not the head man over the basketball operation.

The roster isn't the problem. The rockets are actually a good team.

The problem is McHale, simple as that. No further explanation needed.

If we're looking at this season, Morey put them in a position to win. The Blazers shot the lights out and McHale got outcoached. That's not on the GM. The roster is good enough to get the job done.

Lol, there are like 26 other nba owners who would take morey off our hands. Blaming morey is stupid.

You guys need to get a grip. The West is tough. Houston has a good team. Portland was just hot.

But hey, what do I care? You can fire McHale and break up the team.

I know, sometimes there is no one to blame and it's nobody's fault. These teams both won 54 games and split the season series. In 6 games Portland scored 2 more cumulative points.

Ownership get ALL the blame for every 9 seed the Rockets have had in recent years. Finishing 9th in the West is like being relegated. The 14th pick in the draft might as well be a 2nd round pick in talent. If Alexander had allowed Daryl to tank, we could've HAD Lillard, or Demarcus Cousins or others. They would still be on their rookie deal paired with Howard and Harden.

The roster is soft. It is not built to win in the playoffs - significant defensive deficiencies and too many jump shots.

But lets not focus just on this year which was admittedly their best in a few, we are talking about 17 years of basically garbage. The Rockets are just a bad and meaningless franchise in the NBA landscape. It is time for the Leslie to sell.

I don't think McHale should get fired, but he's definitely the easiest piece to replace.

You guys need a better point guard more than a new coach. Not unlike our Ags.

I don't know how anyone could have watched this series and complain about this team

And we talk about this year bc it's the only year they had Howard. Don't forget they were the youngest team in the playoffs. These losses suck, badly, but it usually takes young teams a couple of goes at it before they have real playoff success.

Let's all chill with the ledge walking. This team had a great season and played very well in a tough playoff series. The easy thing for them to do would have been to roll over after going down 0-2. I'm hurting right now but feel better about the future of this team than I have in a long time and that's even before the offseason moves that you know are coming.

Would love to hear your logic why he shouldn't be fired. Guy was out coached in five of six games in crunch time or OT. The best point of that too was the timeout called by him right before that Lillard buzzer beater and he did absolutely nothing. Told no one to switch, no double team on Lillard, nothing. The guy is a dunce.

I don't know about that.

These western conference teams are all great. All playing high level. But there's a going to be a clear difference in the roster of the teams playing in the conference finals vs. those that exited in the first round.

IMO, the blame on the Rockets side falls mostly with Harden. Other than tonight, he didn't live up to his regular season level. He played horrible defense, and he looked completely disinterested at times when Howard was dominating the ball. But he's untouchable (as he should be). I would prefer that they give McHale one more year with whatever additional pieces Morey will bring in. But again, the coach is the most replaceable part, so I won't be surprised if he's fired.

Harden is a flaw. At least for now. Maybe he takes this series and learns from it. Learns to amp it up on defense. But the Harden that showed up in this series can't be one of your two stars.

It's hilarious how the herp derps always come out to blame Morey for everything. A competent defending stretch 4 and a better head coach are the last two pieces to the puzzle. 4 years ago this team was staring down the barrel of a decade of suckage, thanks to Morey they're one more season away from a couple of WCF appearances.

Morey has been the GM for 7 years. Seven years.

He definitely and arrogantly thinks he is a genius. Just one problem...his teams don't win in the playoffs

You are correct about Harden not playing well on offense in the series. He never plays defense and always looks disinterested so nothing to that, but offensively (save game 6) he failed. BUT, way too many coaching mistakes were made during this series. I like McHale but don't see how he makes it. Not adjusting game plan on Aldridge until game 3 was a huge mistake, especially when we had a home game in game 2. Not running the offense through Howard in the half court set until game 5 was inexcusable. Our ball movement and passing is the worst in the league when not in transition. Making sure parsons doesn't play Lillard on the opposite side of the floor (where the ball is) with 0.9 seconds left is horrible. Lillard can't catch and shoot from across the court. That is the single most important thing McHale should have covered last night. All of these are coaching mistakes. He should be gone

A coach that can't get this team out of the first round needs to hit the road.

It's a mix - the roster is fine. McHale got outcoached, and the Blazers couldn't miss.

Uh, no. Portland is good. Houston is good, but flawed.

I said earlier this season that Houston has a good starting 5, but a poor bench. Daniels was a very late surprise, but Lin is "straight garbage." They just don't have the reserves that a Dallas or SA have.

All I keep hearing on the radio is how Hardin just flat out does not give effort on the defensive end. With that, with 0.9 seconds left why do you even have him out there? If Hardin is as crappy as they say on that end then he needed to be sitting on the bench.

Those 4 versus 5 are always the best series because the teams are dang near even coming in. Losing it is not that big a heart ache.

As far as the front office it remains to be seen. If they go after Carmelo Anthony then they are not real bright. Anthony is not a good fit for Houston. Improve that bench and you have a dangerous team. Someone coming off the bench that gives you options would be ideal.
