IHe also hit the third 3 in that 3rd quarter stretch where we blew it open:

1. Splitter blocks Wade, Boris hits Patty for a 3.
2. After Miami scores, Patty comes down and hits a 3 in transition.
3. Kawhi finds Manu at the break in the arc for a 3 to put the Spurs up 22. The roof was officially blown off at the AT&T Center.

That sequence put a bow on the title. Place was bedlam, Spurs were rolling, Manu and Patty were psyched, and you just knew it was over.

Will get chills watching that sequence as long as I live.

I believe this was from that stretch.

I wasn't even worried about being way down early. Lebron was the team on both ends of the floor, and one player could not beat the Spurs for 48 minutes. I can't even come up with a good analogy for that third quarter. It's probably the most thorough whipping I've ever seen. I know other games have had bigger margins of victory, but this was the closeout game of the NBA finals against the defending champs and they looked like Clubber Lang at the end of Rocky III. COME ON CHAMP. YOU AIN'T SO BAD. YOU AIN'T NOTHIN.

Funny to notice how far ahead the Spurs were in most of those games....

Game 5 was absolutely incredible. Never had as much fun watching a basketball game as I did that night. That Manu dunk may be the most memorable shot of his career.

It infected the team with a ferocity and excitement that never came down again until the game was over. You could tell the guys were having fun out there. And Mills, with his torrential downpour of three pointers... a performance for the ages.

I need to re-watch that game.

I ran into Patty last night at La Cantera! He was so nice. And his girlfriend is gorgeous.

Game 5 is the best moment in my sports fandom history across the entire spectrum.

My only regret was that I had to watch that game in Manhattan, among casual nba fans. (Granted most were rooting for the Spurs.) I would've loved to watch that game in Texas among die-hard Spurs fans.

Manu is the best passer I done ever sawd.
He's amazing, but the funny thing is that even in his prime, he was only 70-80% as good a passer as he thought he was. Seriously, some of his passes...

I mean take his between the legs passes. Those are tough, look cool, and they always make the Sportscenter top 10 when a player pulls one off, but Manu is the only guy I've ever seen throw a pass through the legs of a player who was running. Hell, he's the only player I've ever seen even TRY that pass.

Most guys wouldn't try that in pick up games at the local rec, much less the NBfrickin'A.

Manu is ridiculous. Love that dude.
